Boating, canoeing, birdwatching, seal watching, sandcastle sculpting… you name it. There’s so much to do in this gorgeous rural spot in the Norfolk Broads that Walnut Farm is just the quiet haven you’ll want to come back to after a days’ worth of adventures. That’s presuming you left in the first place… with no noisy club house or on-site entertainment, the atmosphere is splendidly quiet and peaceful. Recently taken over by Mark and Helen, who have four children and two dogs, this is a small, family-run site where families and their dogs are very welcome. There are numerous dog-friendly beaches around, we have a direct path to Waxham Beach, which is a beautiful dog friendly (all year round) sandy beach. Waxham beach is a short walk from Horsey, where the famous Horsey Seals are present all year round. Pick up the Norfolk Coast Path from there and head on to golden beaches along Sea Palling, Great Yarmouth and Mundesley (depending on how far you fancy strolling). Being based in the Norfolk Broads means that boat hire is only 15 minutes’ drive away too. Whether you take off walking, boating, cycling or wildlife-spotting with the binoculars, you’ll have a nice set of facilities to return to, including an amenities block with showers and toilets, an indoor washing-up area, a launderette and chemical disposal points. There’s a one and a half-mile dog walk that loops the 100-acre farmland once belonging to the farm (with a stretch along the Broads, no less). There’s a pub 35 minutes’ walk away from the site and a tearoom 25 minutes’ walk away. Sea Palling, five minutes’ drive away, has a village shop.
