  • Dog-friendly site in a quiet rural part of north Norfolk
  • A 10-minute drive from Mundesley and 20 minutes from Cromer
  • Miles of footpaths and trails in the local area, including woods
Raring to go for a rural break in north Norfolk, with a little coast on the side? That’s no problem at NEPC Caravan and Camping Site. Based in a very quiet and rural north Norfolk field with horses for neighbours, hiking fans and those seeking the sand and seaside will be in their element. Take off on one of the walks directly from the site or map your way out to the miles of footpaths and trails in the local area. Where to? Well, perhaps Bacton Wood (10 minutes) for strolls and picnics or to the splendidly scenic North Walsham & Dilham Canal, 15 minutes’ drive away. The Norfolk Broads and Cromer are both around 20 minutes’ drive away too. Toilets and showers are available on site, so you'll have some simple facilities to use at the end of a day of adventures. Potter down to the closest pub, which is half an hour’s walk away, or track down tasty country pub eats, fish and chips and beer by the sea in Mundesley (10 minutes). There’s a butchers 15 minutes’ walk away for fresh meat and bistros and gourmet joints in the surrounding area too. North Walsham, five minutes’ drive away, is especially suited to foodies, as it has supermarkets, shops and cafés as well as a library and a bank. With all the walks and the outdoor activities around, dogs are welcome at NEPC Caravan and Camping Site (just keep them on a lead around livestock). Other very handy facilities on site include a chemical disposal point, wifi and grey water disposal points.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked: Well marked areas for waste disposal and toilet cleaning

Disliked: The wind ( not controllable by the site) but perhaps consider some form of fencing or hedging to lessen the impact. Complete lack of activities on the site unless you like looking at lots of fields and horses. Would have been nice if there was some sort of kiddies play area.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We liked the proximity to the beach and local amenities. Whilst still feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Lovely to wake up next to the horses and to watch the tractors at work. The facilities were clean and showers were hot. Ample amount of electric hook up’s with connecting water for the size of the field. Hosts were friendly and accommodating.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Toilets were clean and showers were spacious and lovely and warm after a cold night. The site is on a gentle slope but the pitches are nice and flat and free from stones. Our neigghhbours (the horses) are friendly and we had fun watching them play. We didn't see Louise or Phil during our stay but the contact we has via text message was welcoming, helpful and straight forward

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Quiet rural setting and seeing the horses grazing in the fields so close by. Hot showers with good water pressure.

Disliked: Walking in the dark across sodden muddy field (due to heavy rain) to get to toilet/shower facilities. No water supply in taps at washing area and no cover from the elements.

Local attractions

Straight off to the sea, you might very well be, with Cromer’s seaside amusements and pier (20 minutes’ drive) being so easy to get to. In August, Cromer hosts a carnival week and there are fireworks on New Year’s Day (weather permitting). Sheringham (half an hour) is excellent too, especially its fun pool, gardens and old-school North Norfolk Steam Railway. For wildlife encounters, head to the Cley Marshes Visitor Centre (40 minutes), near Cley next the Sea. Another spot is Blakeney (40 minutes), which has England’s largest grey seal colony. You might fancy a visit to the so-called capital of the Norfolk Broads, Wroxham (half an hour), where there’s daily boat hire, river trips, riverside cafés, pubs and shops. The city of Norwich (45 minutes), has a castle museum, a cathedral, excellent shopping, a theatre, art galleries, cafés, pubs and restaurants, of course. And what else? Perhaps the historical Blickling Hall (20 minutes) or family-friendly attractions like the Banham Zoological Gardens (an hour and 10 minutes), Wroxham Barns (20 minutes) craft centre and play park, Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure (40 minutes) and BeWILDerwood Norfolk (20 minutes)?
