  • Friendly and well-maintained campsite in north Norfolk
  • A 15-minute walk from Mundesley beach; Cromer 20 minutes' drive
  • Pub, supermarket and other amenities within a mile
Pick a pitch at Hayfield Hideaways if you want to be closest to some of the very best parts of Norfolk's north coast. Surrounded by natural scenes and within easy walking distance of Mundesley village and beach via a footpath, this site is also a five-minute walk from a bus stop where you can catch the Norfolk Coasthopper, so it could hardly be easier to leave the car behind. Hayfield Hideaways is a family-run business that welcomes well-behaved kids and waggy-tailed friends. This is the sort of site to head to if you're after simple rural escapes surrounded by lots of open space. The flat grass field has a good level of basic services, with two toilets and two showers and other handy facilities like waste disposal points available too. After a long day exploring what's on offer in the surrounding area, you can relax at your pitch over a barbecue or head towards the traditional village of Mundesley, where there's a variety of spots to eat including pubs, restaurants and fish and chip shops. Other amenities like a supermarket, butcher's shop, ice cream parlour and fruit and veg shop are all within a mile of base.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Owners are great. Fri eve bbq was yummy and gratefully received after pitching our tent. Toilets and showers were clean, warm water, always loo roll etc all you need. Lots of space for the kids to play. Short walk to the beach.

Disliked: It was a shame our group couldn’t share a larger plot - made socialising more like visiting each others tents, but easy to make this work.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at our campsite and had a great experience overall. We're delighted to hear that you found the atmosphere welcoming and that you enjoyed the Friday evening BBQ. It's lovely to know that you appreciated the cleanliness of our facilities and the ample space for kids to play. We understand your point about larger plots for groups. Our campsite is designed with a unique concept in mind, where plots are intentionally 10x10m circular spaces separated by long grass to help our guests reconnect with nature. We take pride in offering a quirky and immersive camping experience, unlike other campsites where you might feel squeezed in. This design is meant to provide a more natural and tranquil atmosphere. We'll take your feedback into consideration for future improvements to ensure that your social experience is as enjoyable as possible within our unique layout. Once again, thank you for choosing our campsite for your adventure. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future and hope you create even more fantastic memories with us! Thanks, Hayfield Hideaways

Liked: Our first experience of camping! Hayfields Hideaway was just what we expected. A field with long grass in between flat level pitches. Very private. There were 16 pitches on the main field and 2 pitches in an adjacent field. There are 2 loos and 2 showers in rustic individual huts. The showers were warm and both toilets and showers cleaned every day. In another shed was an area for washing up and points for charging phones. The farmer who runs the site visited us and asked if all was ok. He was very helpful and friendly. You can order fire pits and wood and order meat and eggs to be delivered. There is a road that runs adjacent to the field but we didn't hear any noise at night. Slept really well! We loved being in nature and would recommend this site to anyone who wants to get away from the busier campsites.

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience at Hayfields Hideaway! We're thrilled to hear that your first camping experience exceeded your expectations. It's fantastic to know that you enjoyed the privacy of our spacious pitches, the rustic charm of our individual “shacks” for showers and toilets, and the convenience of our washing-up area and phone charging points. We take pride in maintaining cleanliness, and we're delighted to hear that you noticed our efforts. We truly value your kind words about our friendly and helpful team. Who take great pride in ensuring our guests have a memorable stay. Your feedback about the peaceful night's sleep despite the nearby road is appreciated. We're committed to providing a serene escape to nature. Thank you for recommending Hayfields Hideaway to others. We can't wait to welcome you back for more camping adventures!
