  • Cosy and peaceful luxury shepherd’s huts two miles from the coast
  • Just outside the Norfolk Broads National Park; lots of walks nearby
  • Well-equipped kitchens, ensuites and access to a hot tub and firepit
Cosy Norfolk shepherd’s hut stays with a slice of luxury and your pick of the coast and country… this is what Ormesby Manor does so well. With gorgeous private grounds just outside of the Norfolk Broads National Park, there are endless opportunities for day boating or angling on the Broads and in the other direction, the coast is two miles away. With this nice mix also comes a choice of coastal or country walks. There are stunning beaches to tick off and sea fishing to do, as the coast is just two miles away and there are some fab seaside places a short drive away, including the live shows, museums and seaside attractions in Great Yarmouth (15 minutes’ drive). The shepherd’s huts are all centrally heated using sustainable energy biomass and to add to that cosy feel, there’s a kingsize bed with luxury bed linens, an ensuite with a shower, washbasin and toilet (towels and toiletries are provided). For delicious dinnertimes, the kitchen area includes a fridge, kettle and microwave (hot drinks facilities and continental breakfast baskets are included), while entertainment could come in the form of the smart TV, wifi or the firepit and hot tub outside. With 12 acres of space and views over the parkland and farmlands, it's easy to get out onto the Broads’ waterways on foot from here or take yourself out to dinner by the waterside. Pubs and other fab places for food are five minutes' drive away in Ormesby St Margaret and there’s a farm shop down the road for some fresh food.

The Beekeeper shepherd's hut

Liked: Beautiful setting, quintessentially British , quite and picturesque. Abounding wildlife, stunning views and friendly staff make Ormsby Manor a must visit location. Simply fabulous!

Disliked: Our only complain is very minor-No curtain or blind on the door. But easily fixed with a tea towel and hair clip!

The Gardener shepherd's hut

Liked: Our first stay in beautifully furnished shepherds huts with lovely attention to detail. Felt like luxury boutique hotel. Comfortable bed with fresh linen. Despite booking very last minute owner was quick to contact and was very attentive and helped to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Hot tub a great touch. Breakfast was lovely.

Local attractions

The real question here is: to stick to the land or to get out on the water? From Ormesby Manor, you’ll have plenty of choice whichever way you go. Ormesby Little Broad (five minutes’ drive), Ormesby Broad (five minutes) and Rollesby Broad (five minutes) are your closest waterways – so hire a rowing boat from Rollesby, see what you can reel in on your fishing rod or take a motorboat out (there are boats available by the day from Rollesby Broad). After a beach day instead? You could go seal spotting at Horsey beach (20 minutes' drive), pack a picnic for Happisburgh beach (25 minutes) or settle on Sea Palling beach (25 minutes) for a good swimming or jetskiing session. The Broads and the sea are certainly splendid but when you’re feeling like the buzz of a city, that’s okay too, because historic Norwich (35 minutes) is an easy drive away. Wander around the medieval cathedral quarter, look into the castle's museum and art gallery or go bargain hunting in the marketplace. For more of the cultural side of things, theatres and museums are in plenty here, as are shops.
