General

  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet
  • Pools, gym, solarium, crazy golf, bar and restaurant

If you can’t decide whether to opt for a chilled-out break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads.

It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, perfect for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment.

Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool, solarium and gym.

The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

We were greated by a lovely team of staff at a 6pm check in on a Friday. We were told all about the site and given our park pack. We were then guided to our pitch and the assistant was only to happy to help push the caravan into place with us given us the best way to maximise amount of space for our pitch. All weekend the assistants were walking round speaking to guests. Although we had a touring van we used some of The on-site facilities and found they were perfect and clean. The on-site entertainment was well loved by our children and the restaurant food was adequate for the price £10 for scampi and chips, kids meal £5(inc icecream and drink) the pitches had taken a battering with the summer we have had, dry bare grass so was dusty but this was not a problem with our awning.

    Disliked:

Nothing it was great !! although we were close to the entertainment venue and there was noise till late we expected this being sited where we were and we believe it was still an advantage as our children could play and we could see them at all times! So the positive out ways the negative and we will be asking for this pitch again

    Disliked:

Site information said that site was eco friendly but no facilities for recycling glass and shower block asked us to use plastic overshoes instead of providing a mop and bucket as do the main camping clubs. Not eco friendly!

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of fun attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabeth House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids.

There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft.

For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty.

Drive a little further and you can explore the beaut wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
