General

  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet
  • Pools, gym, solarium, crazy golf, bar and restaurant

If you can’t decide whether to opt for a chilled-out break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads.

It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, perfect for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment.

Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool, solarium and gym.

Swimming pool and close to Great Yarmouth good location and staff very friendly and helpful

    Disliked:

Restaurant food was of poor standard hair in one main and bland. Drinks were flat and not any open spaces for football or rounders pitches felt cramped on top of each other.

We got to the caravan and as one of pitch reviews said because they hadn’t booked direct with Braydon water their pitch was under a tree and what a coincidence ours was. I went to complain and after the receptionist stated that they were fully booked I said that’s ok and went to leave. She called me back and said she would move us. Which she did. Going to the toilet block I was in the toilet cubicle and kids were chucking toilet tissue over the top. I asked them to stop and they carried on. This happened a few times. The toilet blocks were always covered in toilet tissue. The cleaners did try to keep them clean. ( the wardens were friendly and helpful). On the Monday morning we woke up to find our bathroom crawling with ants and we had had enough we decided to leave. The warden did say he had stuff for the ants but we had already decided to leave. We lost £80

The pool was lovely and the food on site was very high standard and huge portions

    Disliked:

Lots of ants which obviously can’t be helped and we had a very sandy dry pitch due to the weather which we know can’t be helped .. washing up area could do with being cleaned out more, every time I went to wash up the sinks were full of food and grease from others pots!
Allowing dogs on site I think ruins this park as we had a dog barking non stop for 3 hours one night , some more security driving around would benefit the park too asthere were several groups being very loud at 2am!

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of fun attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabeth House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids.

There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft.

For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty.

Drive a little further and you can explore the beaut wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
