Breydon Water Holiday Park: The outdoor pool and sun terrace

General

  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections

It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment.

Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym.

The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

    It was cheap

    Disliked:

Staff mowing on the day of the queens funeral!. Pitch was dirty as were the toilets
and showers most of the time. Ladies showers broke down mid week and were still out of action when we left. Dogs with no leads on and owners taking them into the toilet block. One dog was washed down in the 'drinking water' area.

Showers in ladies out of order for our whole stay so had to wait for a staff member to unlock the accessible cubicle which there was only one between everyone. No soap in dispensers either so a bit unhygienic.

Flat pitches, location. Night security staff on club House door very helpful with their assistance. Nice walks around campsite.

    Disliked:

That the showers in the female block were not working, a sign was up to use accessible shower, however that was locked, apparently you had to pay a £5 deposit for the key which we wasn't told at check in. The night security opened for me to use.

Shouldn't have needed a key if other showers out of order and they're asking guests to use the disabled shower room.

We were only there for one night but that still wanted to use the washroom in the morning and couldn't as was locked again. possibly guests with a key locking it??? So that was the only thing that could have been better.

The two young people that looked after the touring pitch.

    Disliked:

The caravans and tents that didn't stick to the planing of the pitch as they left very little room behind and sides of our caravan. Then on the second night we got invaded with Ants, reported next day to reception twice and next day again, still nothing done about the Ants. So went and spent £18 on any powder and traps to clear the Ants.
Having caught COVID on the Sunday had to pack up and come home, so in all had a crap holiday.

Location was great for where I was working. Good price!

    Disliked:

Showers where awful no pressure and don’t stay on for more than 3 seconds!
Pitches are just wet sand so everything is dirty all the time!
No WiFi in the club room (it was broken)
Not many bins water points or waste points!
Was contacted 3 times by staff firstly saying I hadn’t checked in, (2days into my stay when I had my pack etc) then that there had been a duplicate booking and then that I had not paid! It was very embarrassing. All incorrect and no fault of mine it was all a system error!

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids.

There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft.

For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty.

Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
