  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, crazy golf, bar and restaurant
If you can’t decide whether to opt for an idle break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads. It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment. Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym. The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

What customers say

The campsite offers spacious pitches, clean facilities, and friendly staff, with good entertainment for families. Many guests praised the outdoor pool and convenient location. However, recurring issues include shower controls requiring constant pressing, dated shower/toilet blocks needing more frequent cleaning, and occasional noise disturbances from other campers. Some reviews also noted the site's tired appearance and the presence of potholes on access roads.

Liked The park was nice for the children.
The lifeguards were fab with the children.

Disliked The shower block was absolutely gross all of the time - except for one day. I spoke to a lady on reception about this issue who said yes that’s because Nigel is on so you’ll see a difference. If staff aren’t doing their job then they need speaking to rather than Nigel picking up the slack.
Took the children on crazy golf - 1 hole broken and couldn’t be used.
They wanted to ride the carts you could hire - only certain ones were working. Was told it’s because it’s the end of season so things need replacing as they’ve been broken.
The pool needs a revamp.
The noise was ridiculous until midnight. Music, people arguing, shouting - other campers had no respect for others.
This was the only holiday I could afford for my children. Booked it in January so I could save up, and left disappointed.

Liked How big the pitch was.

Disliked The constant smash of footballs against the metal fence surrounding the pitch, should be stopped about 8pm at the latest.
Entertainment wasn’t great, the food was ok but quite expensive, drink prices were also inflated.
The shop had limited stuff, normally on site shops have camping equipment, this one didn’t fridges full of alcohol and energy drinks though.
The swimming pool was clean, as were the shower blocks.
A few dogs not on leads, and only one poo bin I could see.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Outdoor pool.

Disliked The toilets were really disgusting and often quite unpleasant. I actually felt sorry for the staff who seemed to be constantly going in to clean them.

The campsite was also extremely noisy. Obviously, when staying at a family campsite you expect a certain level of noise, especially from children — hearing a baby crying during the night, for example, wouldn’t bother me at all. However, having two drunk men directly outside our tent at 2am shouting, swearing and drinking beer is completely different. There were also lots of children still riding around on bikes and making noise well after 11pm.

The pitches are very small and packed closely together, and overall the site didn’t feel particularly well maintained. For the price we paid, we expected a much better experience.
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return. This was only our second camping trip, and if it had been our first, I genuinely think it would have put us off camping for life.

Liked Kids bits are great, staff are mostly great.
Cleaners of toilet block in tourers area - absolutely fantastic!

Disliked Launderette - although good, often one of two driers, or one of two washing machines out of service - big park with only four washing items.
Kitchen area on tourer site - always out of hot water and low pressure/flow rates.
Cleaners of toilet block in tourers area - absolutely fantastic!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Mixed feelings on this one, the staff were great on arrival, very friendly and helpful. The immediate families next to us were lovely, everyone helped each other out, it had a nice communal feel.

Disliked The state everyone else was leaving the toilets in was disgusting. I had seen reviews but didn’t think it would be as bad. They did get cleaned but I think it needs to be more regular. I know you can’t be responsible for those staying but when there is sick on the floor, poo on the floor, blocked toilets with toilet roll and period waste/products it’s not great. Only one soap dispenser worked (ish). There also needs to be more regulation for sound, there was a blaring tv until 2am the first night.

Liked A really good feel to the site upon arrival, friendly staff. Outside pool was a brilliant touch and when the wind died down it felt like a sun trap, pool was warm even at 9am.
Children had a great time riding around on there bikes.
Best family camping holiday we’ve had
As we all felt relaxed here.

Disliked Toilets dirty and messy, women’s worse then the men’s (mainly due unaccompanied / mischievous children) but once weekend was over they were much better.

Outdoor pool had lots of stones in the bottom (stone from around the outside of the pool)
We were the first ones in the pool area one morning and one of the toilets was still un-flushed from someone the previous day.

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids. There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft. For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty. Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
