  • Award-winning family-owned north Norfolk holiday park
  • Within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, a mile from Cromer
  • Dog-friendly site with woodland walks and a popular bar-restaurant
How would you like to stay at an award-winning forest park with walks through sheltered tree groves, a sun patio to bask on, plenty of play areas for the youngsters and hilltop viewpoints taking in a sandy beach, the Norfolk coastline and the famed golf course at Royal Cromer? You would? Then take the family tree to Forest Park, a pristinely pretty park set among 100 acres of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. There’s loads to do on site alongside the woodland walks and gaping at the views, from the grassy space on site for kids to play ball games and run about to the cycling routes in the local area. Forest Park is a mile from the seaside town of Cromer, where there are plenty of restaurants dishing up Cromer crab. Back on site, there's a bar-restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (opening times vary). The well-stocked park shop sells fresh honey produced at the on-park bee hives, alongside fresh hot drinks made with locally sourced coffee beans and freshly baked croissants, bread and pastries: just follow your nose. Toys, camping equipment, newspapers, gifts and a good selection of groceries are also on offer.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Size of pitches, bar/little shop on site, free public wifi. Loads of walking and lovely trails to follow especially the imaginative 'Fairy Walk'. Loads of wild life, especially little deer (fed by the park in Fairy Walk once a day). Pigs, cows and sheep on another walk plus lots of bird life. Easy walk to Overstrand, a fascinating old village and a longer walk to Cromer itself.

Disliked Only one toilet/shower block in use for the whole of the large touring site. Pitch just off the main entrance road, traffic through to the static sites early morning until late.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Fantastic site, would highly recommend.

Disliked The staff were all friendly and helpful, so this isn’t a negative comment, just an observation.
The staff at the initial entrance were welcoming and we had no issues checking in. However, once you’ve checked into the site and have been out for the day, returning can be quite time-consuming. When you arrive back at the barriers, you have to park up, get out of your vehicle, go into reception, wait to be seen, and explain where you’re staying before being allowed back in.
We completely appreciate that there needs to be a level of security and monitoring, but the process felt a little cumbersome. Although the staff could see us waiting in the vehicle, there wasn’t any indication that they’d noticed us, and we still had to wait before explaining our details again. No mention of how to get in or a key card. If you want to go out in the evening you may not be able to get in until a member of staff returns
I would ask for a ‘how do I enter the site’ if there are no staff at reception (evening) and also be aware of waiting to enter

Liked Walking in the forest.

Disliked Grass pitches are sloping. No hairdryers in ladies despite the website saying there is. Water in the fresh water taps was warm, even after running them for a while. Swimming pool was closed.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Helpful friendly staff, clean facilities and site. Also a well stocked shop with some locally produced items. Bar/entertainment area is very nice. Lots of wildlife around the site.

Disliked Grey waste points were in short supply and our pitch was near a central shower/toilet/wash up block that was closed for some reason. This means quite a walk with your washing up to the next nearest block (where the hot water was far from hot.)The elsan waste point is also by the closed block which means there are no hand washing facilities after emptying your tank.

Local attractions

From Forest Park, you can see the village of Overstrand, which has a beach; from here, walk the mile and a half into Cromer for its funfair, zoo, theatre, museums and that famed Cromer crab (buy in the town or catch your own off the pier). If you’re angling for other fishy treats, try fishing for bass off the pier or taking a boat out to sea to land some cod. Two long-distance walking routes finish in Cromer: the Norfolk Coast Path which runs 45 miles from here to Hunstanton and the Weavers’ Way, a 56-mile route going to Great Yarmouth. Wildlife including seabirds and seals can be spotted from many places along the coast, with seal-spotting boat trips available from Blakeney (half an hour's drive). The kids should enjoy days out to places like Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and the award-winning adventure park BeWILDerwood (both half an hour). Meanwhile, grown-up activity in the area includes exploring Norfolk’s many history and heritage sites: roam around the rhododendrons at Sheringham Park (15 minutes), check out the royal retreat of Sandringham (an hour) or get lost wandering around the Holkham estate (an hour) with beaches, nature reserve, woodland play area and outdoor theatre.
