  • Peaceful site on a farm 20 minutes' walk from Snitterfield
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; farm shop and café on site
Well now, here’s a dilemma – settle in for a pie and pint at the local hostelry, grab some farm cider to accompany the sausages sizzling on the barbie or wander over to the site's own café for something cooked up using fresh local produce. All options are equally appealing at The Apple Farm, a peaceful site on a 60-acre farm and orchard three miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. From here it’s a leisurely 20-minute stroll to the village of Snitterfield for meals and drinks in the friendly pub, or to pick up local produce in the village shop. A 10-minute walk from your digs is The Farm, which has a farm shop and café as well as assorted farm antics to get stuck in with. Back at base alfresco evenings are a cinch, as barbecues and campfires are enthusiastically encouraged. There’s heaps of space to ramble around on site too – might you entice the kids to go off-grid with the idea of spotting bunnies, deer and a little fairy kingdom as they roam around? Heading out, there are fishing lakes next door and plenty of easy day trips around Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The pigs!! Very friendly staff/owners, with wonderful addtional extras - we just bought some homemade apple juice that was divine.

Disliked: The bathrooms are quite basic but for the price we paid, you can't complain!

Bell tent

Liked: Had a lovely stay in the Cox glamping tent, it was so nice and my 6 year old little girl loved it. Such a lovely little location and we had the dog with us also was great for her. I would highly recommend Apple Farm.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: What a lovely atmosphere here, Charlotte gave us the directions and where to go and we were left to pitch up. There are clean shower blocks and hot water to wash up. The area is beautiful and peaceful with farmyard animals in closed pens. We had a portaloo next to us which was really helpful rather than going up to to the main part. Trying to book there again for late summer, will absolutely return. Fantastic place

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Well kept tent pitching areas. Good facilities, with 2 showers to share between the tent pitches and a kitchen and shared fridge. Very nice to have a fire pit provided for each pitch. We enjoyed feeding apples to the resident pigs.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Loved, loved, loved this site. First time camping as a single mum, with 2 kids and a dog. Seeing the joy in my kids eyes as they ran barefoot, enjoying the sights, sounds, and freedom made my heart burst. Plenty of space in the camping field. Kids loved visiting the farm animals, and it was handy having a farm shop and restaurant close by. Loved having access to a camp fire too.

Disliked: Nothing really!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: What's not to like. Very spacious pitches and next pitches are spaced out really well so you have your own privacy. Toilets were clean, running water. Lovely grounds to go for a walk. Kids fed the pigs apples with the owners permission. You can get signal on your phone as I wanted to watch the women's euro final while cooking the bbq. Fire pit so we could have a fire and roast marshmallows. They have firewood for sale if you don't fancy hunting for it. Also they have fresh meat for sale and fresh apple juice if you run out or fancy a last min bbq. Really great stay and I will be back again very soon.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the tine to write a review. We are working on a new solution for lights in the showers. We are an off grid site so we have to be a little creative! There are 3 battery lights per shower but sometimes they are left on and the batteries run down. PS - there is no wifi at all so 2 out of ten was very generous!

Local attractions

After you’ve stretched your legs strolling around the site, there are further woodland walks a few minutes away at Welcombe Hills, where you can follow a nature trail or seek out Margaret’s Well, said to have inspired Shakespeare to create the character of Ophelia in Hamlet. The Monarch's Way long-distance trail passes close by too, for those seeking a longer trek or a walk into Stratford-upon-Avon. Fresh-air activities can also be had with fishing at Arden Lakes, next to the site, or playing a few rounds at one of several golf courses in the area. If you didn’t fancy the walk it’ll take 10 minutes or so to drive to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the Stratford Butterfly Farm. For more historical visits, Charlecote Park, Mary Arden's Farm and Warwick Castle are all within a 15-minute drive.
