The Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Rustic , back to basics camp site . Not that busy .
Owners were very helpful and accommodating. Left me alone to enjoy my stay but also at the end of each day, they come around to make sure all is ok and if I need anything. Take time to chat also . Onsite butchery shop has plenty to offer if you are having a barbecue or as I did . Fill my fridge to take home .

Disliked: Nothing

Field stay non-electric grass and earth touring pitch (large)

Liked: Lots of space, didn’t have to pitch close to other units. Very quiet site.

Disliked: Facilities were awful: not clean, shower tray broken and a carpet tile placed on top. Not really suitable to have a shower.

The Meadow non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The space and freedom to choose a pitch wherever we liked. Portaloos dotted about the site made it really easy with kids. Owners are friendly people and even opened up the farm shop for an hour on the day it was closed.
Enjoyed being able to get into the woodland and make a campfire with the wood they sold.
Clever lay out putting a party field well away from the more relaxed fields so that everyone could enjoy themselves without impacting on others.

Field stay non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked: Very friendly family run, large site with woods to camp in, our kids enjoyed the rope swing and lots of pitches with fire pits. Hot showers and farm shop great too.

Disliked: Shower block quite basic but did the job.

Field stay non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked: The cheap price of camping, the relaxed informal campsite with no unnecessary rules and regulations and the delicious food available at the farm shop.

Disliked: The toilets and shower were a bit basic. It would be nice to have a larger, clean and well maintained toilet/shower block.
Such a shame we can’t camp in the woods any more, though appreciate that Birmingham City Council’s silly rules have made that hard.
There aren’t any good local footpaths to go for walks. The ones that exist are very overgrown. It would be nice to have a long route where we could walk around the farm and possibly see some of the animals?

Field stay non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked: Cheap price, friendly welcome, very relaxed with no unnecessary rules. Well thought out with place for everyone from rowdy parties, quieter families to tranquil peace-seeking couples. Delicious food from the farm shop.

Disliked: ‘Thunderbox’ type toilets. Whilst they were clean and regularly serviced they are never as pleasant as proper porcelain in a clean, warm and dry toilet and shower block.

Local attractions

There are heaps of options near Nightingales Rustic Camping for busy bees who want to stick to the local area. For a restorative round of the green, take yourself down to Atherstone Golf Club (10 minutes' drive); tiddlers who find the games there rather slow-paced for their liking can be taken to the town's swimming pool (10 minutes) instead. Also close by are Kingsbury Water Park (15 minutes) and Hartshill Hayes Country Park (15 minutes), where there are birds to spot, picnics to be had and a load of nature to take in. More outdoor jaunts can be had at Tamworth Castle (25 minutes), a fearsome Norman fortress overlooking the bustling market town. And don't feel that you have to eschew indoor times just because you're sleeping in the open air – the slopes of SnowDome indoor ski centre (25 minutes) and fab aquatic displays at the National Sea Life Centre (30 minutes) are not to be missed. Kids been on their best behaviour, or need an incentive to keep them that way? The promise of a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park (25 minutes) should do the job.
