General

  • 'Sparkling showers and huge pitches!'
  • Just two miles from Alton Towers
  • Beautiful countryside on the edge of the Peak District

To Alton Towers! Staffordshire's popular Lower Micklin Touring Park is just five minutes' drive from the whirls and rides of this most exciting theme park to have the kids most excited; we'd recommend a second day there just to make sure you get round it the lot.

And Lower Micklin is also at the edge of the Peak District and a few miles from Uttoxeter Racecourse for more Staffs holiday happenings – buses to Uttoxeter, the racecourse and nearby Cheadle run straight from the bottom of the park's drive. A public footpath walk leads to Alton village and the local pub is half a mile away by footpath or country lane. (Miles of other walks are all around: just look up at the walls on site when you're doing the washing-up: you'll see what we mean when you get there...)

Lower Micklin is set in ten acres of grassland with plenty of space for the kids to run around and a one-kilometre track for big folk to walk or jog. It has new heated shower and loo facilities with free hot water and a family bathroom with toilet, shower, basin and baby changing unit.

The park also has rubbish and recycling facilities, covered washing-up sinks with hot water and – a tad more excitement for the sprogs – a ball field with goal posts and a play area with slide, swings and a climbing wall. For Alton eats, local takeaways deliver to the campsite, and both Alton and Denston close by have food shops and pubs.

It was very quite and peaceful so we got plenty of rest after our long journey from newcastle. Also from our busy day around alton towers. We had such good fun with oscar as well. Customer service was amazing we arrived early and were allowed to park our car in the car park while we went to alton towers. We also got a refund because 2 people couldnt make it.

Well looked after site, very clean toilets and showers. Nice to have fresh flowers at the washing up station.

    Disliked:

Not campsites fault but our neighbours were very noisy until about midnight, maybe a time of quietness needs to be clear when booking in.

Clean facilities, lots of hot water. Freezer, great to be able to freeze cool packs. Quiet location and scenic location. Flat pitches, well maintained.

    Disliked:

Would be good to have more benches to eat and relax on. Protected area to cook in case of bad weather would be a good idea. WiFi would be good if possible.

Security gates into the campsite was a nice touch, the tent pitch was in good condition the grass wasn't burnt 😀.

The owner was lovely and very chatty went through the rules of the site which was nice.

    The toilet/shower block was clean

    Disliked:

Quite a few spider webs in the toilet block, the showers didn't stay on long enough.

Would be an idea to put a temperature adjuster to the disabled showers as the water was to far to hot for small children 👶.

Bin men where far to early woke up the campsite ⛺️
