  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Easy to find, access to site was very easy having the gate code emailed over in advance.
Popped in to the shop to see if we needed to physically check in and we did not.
A big fan of this autonomous system.

The site itself is very close to Nottingham and we used site as a place to park to attend in gig in the city.
Being able to still freely access site after 2200hrs was great to facilitate this.

Great location and plenty of space on the pitch itself.
We opted for a hard standing electric pitch but didn’t use the electric however it was in good proximity to the pitch spot.

The barrier for vehicles over 6f 6” was supposed to be closed until 8am but this was open sooner on the morning of departure so we were able to leave earlier than anticipated which was good for our next plan.

Disliked Only slight complaint which is very slight is that the toilet / shower block is a little outdated and could do with a freshen up.

That being said the showers were hot and had good pressure so no complaints with that side of things.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great location - easy access to public transport - flat, even pitches - useful shop - adequate loos and showers

Disliked Despite the site map on welcome e-mail - found the pitch eventually - only after circling round twice - site not exactly as map for my allocated pitch - pitch numbers on very small boards and not easy to spot

Electric grass pitch

Liked Close enough to Nottingham city centre and a bus stop right outside the site.
Grass pitches are well spaced and relatively level.
16 amp electric is supplied.
The toilet/shower block is clean but well used.
Four fields with about 25 spaces on each.

Disliked I can't think of anything I disliked about this site.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The pitch was spacious, level and clean. The location of the site was really good giving easy access to the water park and nearby nature reserve.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities were appalling for such a well used site. The facilities were in need of some maintenance and thorough cleaning. Some campers seem to think that they can leave their mess for staff to clean which shows a lack of respect for other campers and staff, however during our stay it was very evident that staff did not clean the facilities daily and neither did they clean thoroughly. Sanitary bins in the female block needed cleaning both inside and out and the corners of cubicles were disgusting. It appeared that the facilities were only given a very quick clean and not often.
