Adventure play park
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

Great spot near the National Water Sports Centre & Notts. Plenty of space, flat pitches, and a family vibe. Clean loos and helpful staff are common praise, but some campers mentioned iffy ablutions & noise.

Liked Great to spend time with friends, you can walk to the country park and spend a day doing activities or just exploring. Good well laid out site with nice play area and adequate facilities. Felt safe to let kids roam.

Disliked Feel’s unsupervised. Saw one warden walking round checking who was friendly. Lady in shop I suspect does not care. Security patrol Saturday night. We have stayed twice now, both times it feels a bit like a family party site, so noisy until around midnight ish. Was fine this time (although felt sorry for people the other side of site) but last year were next to a ‘party pod’. Also don’t camp next to the road track as you get covered in dust constantly! Will probably not stay again as I prefer quieter.

Had the best time. Would defo stay again just away from the road.

Liked The park was lovely and clean
Nice clean toilet/shower blocks most of the time. Which wasn't down to park it's down to people who can't clean after themselves. Lovely water sports and activity centre just a 10 mins walk away. Sky trail is a must and the play area for a young child.

Disliked Mini golf could be made a bit bigger. Got round there quite fast. We were pitched next to a main road. With a young child it was quite concerning. That was the only downside.

Liked Close to city centre.

Disliked Check in time of 2pm earliest but yet have to be off your pitch by 10am on day of departure.
Stayed with family members who had booked a pitch next to ours, only to find someone else on it. Informed staff and the best option they gave was to either squeeze in the middle of the 2 pitches or choose a different pitch.
Kids roaming with no respect or manners. Bikes and toys strewn all across the meadow enclosure.
Noise was meant to be kept to a minimum after 9:30pm and was stated that wardens would police this, yet guests on the meadow had to endure rabble till gone midnight with music, kids and adults shouting and singing.

Prices in office were ridiculous.

Rang office on day of departure to enquire about a later checkout to be told no one is in the office until 10am.

Liked The site was lovely and easy to get to and enter. The kids loved playing on the park. The team placed me away from my friends originally but were able to rearrange things so I could be next to them, very grateful for that.

Disliked The toilets and showers need to be cleaned more frequently when the site is busy.

Liked Lots of space for children to play staff were lovely very friendly vibes loads to do very close by not too loud early morning or too late at night big pitches so plenty of space, we were placed quite close to showers and washing up sinks etc.

Disliked Only thing we disliked was the tap to get rid of toilet water was right in middle of the field we were on so every now and again you would get an awful smell also it was the same tap for drinking water so that’s a little off putting
