  • Adults-only site behind a traditional pub in Nottinghamshire
  • Lincoln 20 minutes’ drive; Sherwood Forest half an hour
  • Pub garden and a fishing lake, plus riverside walks; dog-friendly
If you’re keen to stay in the open air but don’t want to miss out on a nightly pint in a cosy local, Swan Lake Caravan Park might just be the place for you. The grass pitches at this adults-only site sit behind the White Swan pub, a traditional boozer in the Nottinghamshire village of Dunham on Trent. There are other advantages to staying here besides the proximity to the pub: the site is just off the A57 (and therefore easy to reach), plus there are bus stops nearby, and it will welcome your canine buddy. On top of that, it has its own fishing lake. Ready to explore the Nottinghamshire countryside? A 10-minute walk takes you to the Dunham Toll Bridge and the path that runs along the River Trent. Then you can walk (or cycle) south towards Fledborough Viaduct and on to Girton Lakes (a five-mile hike); or head north, towards Torksey Castle (about four miles). If you’re feeling adventurous, the Skellingthorpe Walk is a 10-mile path leading all the way into Lincoln (allow at least four hours on foot… or 20 minutes by car). The site has modern toilet and shower facilities, freshwater points and chemical waste disposal, plus an area where you can wash up after your barbecue.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The pitches here are lovely , gravel space for your caravan and grass space for your awning and also plenty of room to put your table and chairs outside. The grass was mowed. There is a little lake that you can walk around and also fish there. There are static caravans around the fishing pond and the pitches although this says it is an adult only site the people that own the static caravans are allowed children in them.

Disliked: The toilets are very basic but were also very dirty. The mats in the shower had grime and mould underneath them. They were that bad We did not use them. We used our own facilities in the Caravan. There is also a lot of rubbish that needs clearing away behind the shower block where you get your drinking water from and the washing up area.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Great quiet site. Even though just off a main road noise level was very low. Pitches were level and large.
Lovely walks to take the dog along the river Trent and very peaceful.
Pub at the site entrance served lovely food and staff were friendly and helpful. Very dog friendly.
It was lovely that you weren't given a time to leave the site if we didn't have to get home for an appointment would have definitely stayed longer as the weather was gorgeous

Disliked: Showers were evidently quiet modern however we stayed Friday to Tuesday and during this time the showers / toilets were not cleaned. This needs to be addressed to make this site a five star.
Would definitely stay again if the facilities were cleaned on a regular basis

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Quiet site with generous, level pitches and very close EHU behind each pitch.
Well stocked pond on site - fishing included in site fees.
Local pub at entrance to site serving really good Sunday lunches.
Nice variety of walks along the River Trent, into the surrounding countryside.
Although the road through the village is busy, the noise is not so intrusive to cause an issue.
Security barrier at the site entrance.

Disliked: Although the toilet/shower block appears to be newish and is just about sufficient for the site, it did not appear to have been cleaned during our stay from Friday to Tuesday. However, some extra toilet paper rolls were provided.

On the Monday evening, the water to the pot wash failed and there wasn't anyone on site to report this to.

Again, because there wasn't anyone on site, I could not report some dog poo that needed clearing on the Monday.
