The grass pitches at this adults-only site sit behind the White Swan pub, a traditional boozer in the Nottinghamshire village of Dunham on Trent. There are other advantages to staying here besides the proximity to the pub: the site is just off the A57 (and therefore easy to reach), plus there are bus stops nearby, and it will welcome your canine buddy. On top of that, it has its own fishing lake. Ready to explore the Nottinghamshire countryside? A 10-minute walk takes you to the Dunham Toll Bridge and the path that runs along the River Trent. Then you can walk (or cycle) south towards Fledborough Viaduct and on to Girton Lakes (a five-mile hike); or head north, towards Torksey Castle (about four miles). If you’re feeling adventurous, the Skellingthorpe Walk is a 10-mile path leading all the way into Lincoln (allow at least four hours on foot… or 20 minutes by car). The site has modern toilet and shower facilities, freshwater points and chemical waste disposal, plus an area where you can wash up after your barbecue.
