General site overview

  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland in Northamptonshire
  • Half an hour's drive from Silverstone; Northampton 15 minutes
  • Fishing lakes, bars and restaurants
Activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome is just a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire and set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes. With so much to do around its grounds, it's likely that you'll want to stay put here for your entire trip… and if you do desire to speed off somewhere, Silverstone is only half an hour's drive away. The site has fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and an up-to-date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the team if you want to try your luck. Away from the water, the many other facilities include bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden). Just take note that the bar, beer garden and restaurant are all adults-only from 10pm. There is also a seasonal swimming pool on site. And speaking of the essentials, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's.

What customers say

This large, family-friendly park offers numerous activities, particularly for children, including a pool and playgrounds. Pitches are generally spacious, and facilities, including new shower blocks, are frequently cleaned, although some older facilities require updating. While many praise the friendly staff and improvements, some guests note issues with booking activities, noise from other campers, and occasional cleanliness problems in toilets and showers during peak times. Safety concerns regarding fast driving and unsupervised children have also been raised.

Field 1 electric grass tent pitch (family)

Liked We stayed on pitch A33 which was right by the shower block. We took our frenchie and dogs are welcome everywhere on site which made it easier for us to do stuff the toilets were clean enough and there is plenty of activities to do on site.

Disliked The ground our pitch was on was awful it was made up of gravel, dust and rocks there was a trench that had been filled but it went directly across our pitch and under our tent this made it uneven inside and even with the carpet down there were some big rocks under there so every now and then you would stand on one and it’s like standing on a plug or Lego!! I had to go buy some different tent pegs because the ground was that hard all the ones I had bent. We only stayed for 2 nights so we put up with it but if I was there longer I probably would of asked to move or went home

Shelduck 1 electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked There are quite a few things to like at Billing Aquadrome but unfortunately outweighed by the negatives.

The pitches were quite spacious, the water points were frequent, as were the bins.

There was a lot to do that was free if you were staying there (disk golf, pump track, several parks, swimming) and the things that aren't free are quite reasonably priced (£23 for the floating obstacle course for 1 hour).

Disliked The place was not clean. There was litter everywhere. Cans of beer, fag ends, cans of monster floating in the lake.

The pool was shut the day we had booked on for.

The toilets were never clean in the Shellduck area we were pitched, one day I went in and one was overflowing and from the remaining 5, only one had toilet paper. There was also broken stuff all over the place, broken mirrors, broken locks on a lot of the toilets/showers, broken vending machine etc...

It's also absolutely rammed full of really rough people (I know this isn't the fault of the site but it impacted our stay). I don't have anything against anyone so I'll explain what I mean here, there were loads of kids (and adults, embarrassingly) bombing around on electric schooters, electric bikes etc in really unsafe ways and no one was doing anything about this. There was a guy who must have been about 40 who just kept doing laps around our pitch area on a little monkey bike with his knees near his head. It was pretty funny to be fair but not enjoyable.

There's also a lot of dogs. Not a problem either but they also don't do anything about the dogs barking none stop.

It also seemed like they've tried to put a lot of stuff on one site without much thought to where these things will go, it was all very disjointed, the circus was right at the back of the site, the zip line just went over a field, it could have been way more exciting if they'd put things in better places.

We visited Milton Keynes and Northampton a couple of times. I wouldn't bother. Milton Keynes has signs saying it's going for city of culture 2029. I can only assume they're planning to raze the place and start again. That's to say I didn't think much to the location.

Shelduck (area 5) electric grass touring pitch

Liked The only plus is people seemed to be enjoying themselves, which was lovely to see.

Disliked Toilet/showers poorly designed. Instead of being separate they are combined (a toilet + shower to a cubicle) meaning people queuing - there were several small children desperately needing the toilet when people were taking showers. Water from the showers pooled in the toilet area - yuk - you ended up standing in centimetres of water trying to keep clothing from touching it. No hooks.
Dishwashing area not kept clean (by campers).
Scarce water points.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere on the park and that you could see other guests having a great time. Creating memorable holidays for everyone is what we strive for, because it's in our nature.

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding the toilet and shower facilities, the washing-up area, and the water points. We appreciate all feedback as it helps us identify where we can continue to improve. We've invested millions of pounds into Billing Aquadrome, and we're not finished yet. We are continually reviewing our facilities and making improvements across the park to enhance the guest experience.

Our park teams work hard throughout the day to ensure our facilities are clean and well maintained. We also encourage all of our guests to help by leaving the facilities as they would wish to find them, so everyone can enjoy them during their stay.

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back in the future so you can experience the exciting improvements still to come.

We wouldn’t go back.

Lakeside camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked The glamping pod had everything we needed, it looks very cute,it was cosy, the ensuite is always handy, we had hot water all the time, show shower is big so can have a comfortable shower, have space to love around. The kitchen sink and fridge is soo helpful. This was the first time we had TV and it had WiFi, so we could use Netflix to watch something at tonight time. The pod was clean and never the less the little decking behind our pod was just amazing, we had breakfast there with our blanket or sometimes we brought the furnitures out to be a bit more comfortable.

Disliked The only one thing I could point out no towels provided, which is only a little thing. We travelled by train so I have limited space for a 4 days glamping, so can't really pack 6 towels that would take up lots of space, however I'm sure almost everyone drives and they can bring their own towels have space in the car, it's just a little thing for me who travels by train, but it's only a little thing to mention.

Shelduck (area 3) electric grass touring pitch

Liked Park has lots of activities to do, entertainment on all day if you want it.

It was busy but not over crowded. The entertainment staff work their socks off!! Love the amphitheatre, definitely a bonus being outside in this lovely weather.

Grounds are tidy and looked after.

Everything you could need onsite. But just off site is a garage with large store, chip shop and restaurant.

Easy to travel to.

Great price, well worth the money!

Will definitely return without a doubt.

Disliked It’s a completely cashless site, with exception to the arcade.

To book activities via their own website isn’t the best to navigate.

I did request to be pitched next to my family member, I’m aware this isn’t always possible but we were allocated pitches next to each other and when we arrived at the pitch someone was in one of them, so we headed back to bookings and they just said to pitch somewhere else a little annoying.

The pool is very cold… be warned 🤣

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your fantastic feedback with us.

We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you had such a great stay and that you enjoyed the wide range of activities, entertainment, and facilities available on park. It’s wonderful to know that our entertainment team made such a positive impression they really do work incredibly hard to create memorable experiences for our guests.

We’re also pleased to hear you enjoyed the amphitheatre, the well-kept grounds, and the convenience of having everything you need onsite, as well as the nearby facilities just outside the park. It’s great to know you found us easy to travel to and that you felt your holiday was excellent value for money. We can’t wait to welcome you back!

Thank you also for sharing your feedback on the areas where we can improve.

We do advise all our holiday guests that we are a cashless park, with the exception of our arcades. This helps us provide a quicker and more efficient service across our facilities.

When it comes to activities, these do need to be booked in advance through our online booking system. Guests can book activities via the link provided up to two weeks before their arrival, helping to secure their preferred choices.

With regards to pitches, these are allocated on arrival, so unfortunately we cannot always guarantee that guests will be placed next to friends or family members. However, our teams will always do their very best to accommodate requests where possible, depending on availability. We’re sorry to hear that there was an issue with your pitch allocation on arrival and appreciate how frustrating this must have been.

Regarding the swimming pool temperature, we can reassure you that our pools are maintained at the correct operating temperature to ensure they are safe and enjoyable for all guests. We appreciate that everyone has different preferences when it comes to pool temperatures, and we’ll continue to monitor guest feedback.

Thank you again for your kind words and helpful suggestions. At Meadow Bay, it’s in our nature to keep improving and create the best possible experiences for our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

At Billing Aquadrome, it's in our nature to keep bringing new and exciting experiences to the park. You never know what we're going to introduce next for our holiday guests, so there's always something new to look forward to.

Lakeside camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Kingfisher cabin (number 20) location with lake view and wildlife was fantastic and the accommodation generally was really good in peaceful, natural setting and represented good value for money.
Welcome pack was a nice touch; also the game for using when holidaying.
Loved the pool for family swimming but it was a shame the jacuzzi was out of order.
Food and drink options were reasonably priced and pretty good.
Most staff were pleasant and helpful but we asked a young waitress if we could have a parasol outside the arcade area as it was a particularly hot day; even though we had seen bases and parasols parked up at the end of the decking area she said there were none.

Disliked Scissors didn't work.
No hooks on bathroom door or other elsewhere to hang clothes or towels
No hooks to hold back the front doors when open, looking out onto the lake
Very weak fishing peg outside the cabin where child liked to feed the ducks but didn't feel safe to stand on!
Poor train service around the lake; was told 10.30am start time then every ten minutes but there was no arrival by 11.10am so had to abandon.
The Venue tables/spillages were not cleaned sufficiently promptly.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We really appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

It's wonderful to hear that you loved our Lakeside Cabins and the beautiful lakeside views. It's in our nature to offer our guests the opportunity to relax, unwind, and reconnect with the outdoors. Our Lakeside Cabins are a real step up from camping, offering the perfect balance of nature and comfort. While we like to keep them true to the camping experience, they're packed with everything you need, including a double bed, sofa, a small kitchenette with a microwave and toaster, and even a private toilet, sink, and shower. They really do provide a unique way to enjoy the outdoors without giving up those home comforts.

With swimming and many of our fantastic on-park activities included, plus the stunning lakeside setting and wildlife, where else can you enjoy all of this in one place!

Regarding the parasols, we completely understand your comments, especially during the recent hot weather. While we don't currently have parasols available for guests, this is something we are looking to invest in as we recognise the need for more shaded outdoor seating areas.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Billing Aquadrome again soon for another relaxing lakeside escape.
