  • Peaceful site in Benniworth village, 15 minutes' drive from Louth
  • A 40-minute drive from the beaches at Skegness and Mablethorpe
  • Two-acre smallholding with resident alpacas, pigs and chickens
Looking for a peaceful base for Lincolnshire larks? Homestead Fields Caravan and Camping, in the village of Benniworth, is a quiet smallholding site that should fit the bill. Country, coast and town trips are all easily sorted here – this two-acre park is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with some top walks and bike rides to be had pretty much as soon as you set foot outside the park. The east coast seaside resorts of Skegness, Ingoldmells and Mablethorpe, meanwhile, are all around 40 minutes' drive away. The genteel Georgian market town of Louth is also close by (15 minutes), while the grand old city of Lincoln is about half an hour away.  If you’ve still got energy left after that little lot, stroll along to the local pub in 40 minutes or so for dinner (if you're hungry, drive it in five instead). Rather spend some time on site? Stick around to light up a barbecue and make pals with some of the site's resident alpacas, chickens and pigs.  Dogs are welcome to join you on your jaunt here – there’s a dog walking area where they can stretch their paws, as well as a free wifi connection for folk who’d like to catch up with the outside world while their pup investigates the sights and smells of their new surrounds.

What customers say

This well-maintained and clean campsite offers a peaceful retreat with spacious pitches and beautiful rural views. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owners, the excellent facilities including clean toilets and showers, and the enjoyable presence of alpacas. The site is particularly popular with families due to its great playground and relaxing atmosphere. Some minor points include occasional queues for facilities during busy periods and the shower cubicles being a little small.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked All was good. Clean and looked after

Disliked We booked a hardstanding and grass for our camper £35 and was put on the grass pitch. So we are £5 out of pocket.
Also would have been nice for tbe owner to actully say hello and explain why we where on the grass.

From the manager: Well we don’t do one night stays on bank holidays all the hard standing pitch was full. You was happy to go on a grassy pitch. You came late and left early so I didn’t get chance to come and say hello. You haven’t paid us. You’ve paid a deposit to pitch up and you’re the only person in the last 10 year that as given a review like that when we’re busy at bank holidays do you think it’s fair for you to come for one night and stops people coming for three nights?

Very nice long weekend break.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely site with area for dog walking. Hot showers. The owners are very welcoming.Nice quiet little place.

Disliked Disliked nothing really. Suggestion would be maybe a couple more picnic benches with parasols. The Wi-Fi didn’t work during our stay but it didn’t bother us.

Alpaca Fields non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great little campsite, 2 toilet facilities, 2 / 3 showers.

The owners are so laid back. We paid a deposit via pitchup, rang when we arrived and he said he'd see us the next day.

He was so laid back it was unreal!

Overall it was a great place, the only bit of input would be for a secondary draining board / surface against second sink to allow 2 people to wash the pots at the same time.

When it became busy, they brought out a porta loo for the tent campers (2 static toilets as well)
Overall, clean, polite and well maintained site.

Will be back!!

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked A friendly, beautiful and well kept site. The hard standing pitches are spacious and private, with electric and water close by. The facilities are clean and well kept. They have a lovely dog walk around the site which is great for a long loose lead walk. We don't have small children, but there is a lovely play area too. The owners were lovely, welcoming and accommodating.

Local attractions

Wanders around the Wolds start at the site gate. Hiking across the flat landscape should be pretty easy for most walkers: strolls up from Benniworth to Donington or Bain along the old railway line are highly recommended. For walks around a man-made landscape instead, head down to Walled Garden Baumber (10 minutes' drive), a kooky plant haven where green-fingered guests can also treat themselves to a cream tea.  Top towns in the local area include Louth (15 minutes) with its Georgian architecture and Spout Yard park, and Horncastle (15 minutes) for bargain-hunting on the high street's many antique shops. Lincoln (30 minutes) is another must-see stop on any trip here: head to the castle for medieval history or climb up to the cathedral's viewing gallery and admire the cityscape below.  For kid-pleasing days, try the cute animals at Rand Farm Park (15 minutes) or the bigger beasts on display at Woodside Wildlife Park (20 minutes). Family-friendly beach time can also be arranged – head to Mablethorpe or Skegness (both 40 minutes) if you want to feel the sand between your toes.
