General

  • Small family-run site among five acres of green Lincs countryside
  • Families, couples, solo travellers and pets all welcome
  • Free range hens: help collect the eggs at laying time

Well now, this is a popular little place. 'Fab', 'beautiful' and 'brilliant' are but of a few of the plaudits that have been heaped on small, family-run and friendly South Farm Caravan Park, set deep in the Lincolnshire countryside a mile from colourful Sutton on Sea.

Families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here, and dogs would likely give the farm an approving woof too: a dog exercise field is on site, many walks are nearby along the countryside lanes and fields, and the walks – and bike rides – of the Lincolnshire Wolds are very close by. The closest beach, Huttoft or Moggs Eye, has miles of dog-friendly sands for the pooch to let loose.

If you think the kids would like to canter, riding lessons and a pony club are at the equestrian centre next door to the farm; if they tend more towards a seaside vibe, Skegness is about 20 minutes away. (And if after that you tend towards a gentler vibe, the long wide open sands of peaceful Huffoft beach are within walking distance of the farm.)

Facilities at the farm include spotless shower and toilet blocks and a washing-up area. And – something else the kids might like – free range hens roam about and children are welcome to help collect the eggs at egg laying time.

Please note

A charge of £0.50 applies for the use of shower.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The fact that the site was quiet as we went when it wasn't school holidays. The site was basic.

    Disliked:

The fact the showers cost 50p for just a few minutes. No toilet roll in both men's and ladies toilets. Think they were replaced once and only in one toilet. Soap dispenser had been watered down. Realise that most visitors were caravans so these probably did not need to use the facilities. But apart from this, the facilities were clean.

Bev was very welcoming and accommodating in siting us in a quiet area which was very secluded, as we were travelling without children, and had lovely views.
There are other areas that are more open and more suited for families with children.
The free roaming chickens were friendly but not intrusive and can only say that we heard the cockerel once during our stay and we were close to their overnight accommodation.
The toilets and showers were adequate and kept clean. Owners were always happy to help.
    Would definitely return.

The location was very convenient for the beach, the owners were accomodating and really nice and the pub was fantastic!

    Disliked:

The toilet and shower cubicle could do with a bit of a spruce (mould on the shower curtains and on the ceiling of the shower cubicles).

Quiet site. The owner was pleasant. Introduced herself helped us find the perfect pitch, then left us to it. No interference no hassle. The site is perfectly placed for visits to nearby coastal towns. The site was adequate for our needs, no frills but a fair price for the fees we paid.

    Disliked:

Although showers and toilets were clean, there was only 2 toilets and 2 showers that could be an issue at busy times but did not impact on us the weekend we were there.

Green secluded pitch, basic facilities in tent. 05/09/2017

Nice green laid-back campsite with very friendly hosts, good facilities and close to the beach! (walkable). The few rented tents are on a small separate field (orchard), nicely secluded.

    Disliked:

The rented bell tent had very basic facilities ( but with a real comfy double bed!), and did not look at all as the photo on the pitch up website. The tent could have been made to look a bit nicer.

Another fantastic week spent here. the camp site is so relaxing and peaceful. The staff are great, always on hand if you need them but never intrusive.
We took our Wolfdogs with us again along with our little Staffie, the site is perfectly placed for a walk down to the beach with the dogs and they love it as much as we do.
We will be back again next year.

Local attractions

This is a smashing spot for family and beach hols, with both Sutton on Sea and Huttoft beaches close by for colourful beach huts at the first and a peaceful relaxing vibe at the second. Skegness is an easy drive along the coast, and Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells are also easily accessible to the north and south.

Among the many other activities near the farm are the ambles and pedals of the Lincolnshire Wolds; sea and coarse fishing for slippery specimens like bass and mackerel, or day trips to Lincolnshire's small market towns like Alford, where there's also a war museum and a theatre.

Bargain hunters should also get along to one of Lincolnshire's many car boots sales, at Ingoldmells, Skegness and Mablethorpe on the coast and inland at Louth, Horncastle, Gainsborough and Hornbeach.
