  • Family-run farm site in the Lincolnshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Sleaford and half an hour from Lincoln
  • Well-drained pitches with access to fields for dog walking
Away to the Lincolnshire countryside? You'll just need a handy base, and look no further than Heath Farm Caravan Site, a family-run farm site just outside the little village of North Rauceby. A 10-minute drive from Sleaford, this site is in a handy spot for heading out to Lincoln, Boston and other towns, visiting relatives up the road at RAF Cranwell or sticking to local lanes for strolls between villages (or village pubs…). If your travelling party features a dog, there’s plenty of space for them to get out for a walk in the fields next door. Pitches here are on level, well-drained land with plenty of green all around. There's an unusual attraction here, too: the farm is also home to an aviation museum. Free to visit, the Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre is set in the old farm buildings and is a particular draw for folks fascinated by things that fly, or with an interest in military history. A flight simulator, a Vampire T11 nose cone and a full-sized military plane are out in the courtyard.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, peaceful site with friendly, helpful owners. Pitches are level and spacious with good facilities, including a spotless toilet block. The on-site aviation museum and book shed are popular bonuses. While some mention road noise, most find it non-intrusive. No showers.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked The site is small, quiet and well maintained. Pitches are spacious and level and the facilities are immaculate. The toilet, wash room and washing up are in one (indoor) area with more than enough space to do whatever’s needed (no tiny cubicles here). This space is also heated which is a definite bonus. Recycling, rubbish and Elsan point are in another under cover space which is tidy and well organised. We were met on arrival and given lots of useful printed info about the site and the local area - including local walks. There’s a designated dog walk on site and a paddock where dogs can be exercised off lead. A nice touch is the little hut where you can buy books, jigsaws and small hand crafted items (money goes to charity). Altogether this is a perfect site if you like peace and pleasant surroundings.

Disliked Nothing. Suited us perfectly.

To be fair there is some road noise from the A17 (as others have commented) but the owners are upfront about this in their description. It didn’t bother us.

Local attractions

If you’ve picked this place mainly for its aviation element, why stop there? Turn your holiday into a themed break by heading out to see more flying machines and memorabilia at Newark Air Museum (20 minutes’ drive), playing with the interactive displays at International Bomber Command Centre (25 minutes) and taking a day to follow the North Kesteven Airfield Trail around the area’s many current and former air bases. Time for a break from the sky-based stuff? Skip into Sleaford (10 minutes’ drive) to visit the free museum, see the Cogglesford Watermill in action and follow the themed trails to uncover the town’s arty and historic corners. Or maybe you’d rather stick to things that move at ground level? If so, the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum (half an hour) is a good place to start. You might also spot rather smaller things scuttling about on a walk at Hartsholme Country Park (35 minutes) or the Natural World Centre (35 minutes), which also has outdoor and indoor wildlife-themed adventure playgrounds for the kids.
