If this sounds like just the holiday ticket, seek out Severn Valley Touring Caravan and Camping Site in the village of Awre, less than a five-minute walk from a traditional cider producer and a 10-minute drive to lovely Newnham-on-Severn. The park's also in an easy position to get to, as it's a mile and a half from the A48 Gloucester to Chepstow road and 25 minutes by car from the Wye Valley. Park up, pitch up then sit – cider in hand – to take in the gorgeous views from here (the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills are visible on clear days) and watch birds soar through the skies: the site's surrounds are home to creatures like kestrels, buzzards and red kites. Early risers might get a sneak peek of hares around the grounds at dawn too, and barn owls have been spotted in neighbouring fields during dusk in this ancient area once listed in the Domesday book as a royal hunting ground… Whatever the time of day or night, visitors have access to well-designed amenities like a purpose-built toilet and shower block, as well as covered washing-up facilities and a shower room that’s accessible to people with disabilities. Off site, the Severn Way is about half a mile away for roams beside the river. Liked Beautifully kept campsite with huge pitches. Amazing value for money. Very peaceful. Facilities excellent and exceptionally clean. Nice riverside walks direct from campsite,band easy access to Forest of Dean by bicycle.

Liked Nice peaceful site, very clean facilities block with hot showers. Large pitches that are very well laid out with small hedges dividing them. We only stayed 2 nights as we were trying out our new tent and everything was perfect for us.

Liked Definitely the best campsite I have ever been to! Joanne & Robin are the friendliest, hardworking owners who have thought of absolutely everything a good campsite needs, and they were constantly working on site to keep it in tip top condition. Huge pitches with hedges around for privacy; fabulous large, spotlessly clean, heated showers with free hairdryer; brilliant gate entry system (ring a phone number & it opens & closes automatically, no need to get out of your van) lots of maps and walks of the area you can borrow, and their own apple juice and eggs for sale in an honesty box. I can't think of a single thing that could make it better, it felt like a real home from home!

Liked Large individual plots, clean bathrooms, good communication, very well looked after site. Loved seeing the alpaca and sheep. Definetly be coming again and highly recommend!
