  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the River Severn
  • Close to a riverside 15th-century inn
  • A 50-minute walk into the historic town of Tewkesbury
Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink... The Willows is a small, friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location: despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

What customers say

This campsite boasts a beautiful riverside location with many pitches offering ample space. Guests frequently praise the friendly staff and the convenience of a nearby pub. However, a significant number of reviews highlight that the toilet and shower facilities are dated, require renovation, and can be unkempt. While some visitors found the facilities basic but functional, others were put off by cleanliness issues. Despite this, many enjoyed the peaceful setting and intend to return.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The pub nextdoor was very good and friendly with good food.

Disliked The toilets and showers were at the least BASIC and needed renovation. They were kept clean though. The advertised fishing was impossible and all privately owned so very disappointing.
The approach road was very narrow and difficult for motorhomes.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The camping field is a unique layout… The fresh water tap is central to everyone being ideally placed in the centre of the field under the willow tree.
The pitches are level which is always a bonus. Having the river so close and a pub just as close serving great food is definitely an additional bonus. The children found many shells and enjoyed watching the tiny fish swimming around. First time venturing out in the camper with the granddaughters and a fun time was had by all.
Some people have commented on the toilet/shower cleanliness. Being pretty much self contained in that department and only visiting the facilities on a couple of occasions I didn’t feel they were dirty, just out doorsy. Yes there were a couple of spiders and cobwebs but isn’t that part of outdoor living? There was hand soap, toilet roll and an electric hand drier. That’s all we needed. There are also outside washing up sinks and chemical toilet disposal. Overall, bearing the price in mind there is absolutely nothing to complain about. I will be returning.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The WiFi connection was very strong The pub staff and food both excellent. The willow trees are beautiful.

Disliked The water point at my pitch didn't work and all other water points did not have a hose attached so I got soaked every time I filled up my water barrel. Toilets and washing block are dated and desperately need refurbishing. All pitches covered in weeds.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.
