  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the River Severn
  • Next to a riverside 15th-century pub; Great Malvern 25 minutes' drive
  • A 50-minute walk into the historic town of Tewkesbury
Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) next-door to the site, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink. The Willows is a small and friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location… Despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury and a 15-minute drive from the outskirts of the Malvern Hills National Landscape. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...). In Tewkesbury, tour the abbey, gardens and museum or do a round of the cafés. If you fancy zipping off to the Malvern Hills for the day, there are plenty of hikes within a short drive or lively Great Malvern is within 25 minutes' drive of the site. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. The country lanes and honey-coloured stone of the Cotswolds National Landscape can be accessed around half an hour's drive away, too. Around the site, there are splendid views of the river and lots of green space. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along for their holiday. Barbecues are also given the green light, so don't forget to pick up your groceries while out pottering around Tewkesbury.

What customers say

This site boasts a fantastic riverside location with friendly staff and level pitches. While many praise the quiet atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and proximity to the pub, the toilet and shower facilities are frequently described as dated, basic, and in need of refurbishment. Despite these criticisms, several visitors found the facilities adequate for their needs and intend to return, citing the location and value for money as key draws. Some issues with site maintenance and cleanliness were also noted.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Flat pitches for tents; not many camping when I went, so lots of space in lovely quiet field with facilities near. Park car next to tent. The pub was great, 2 mins walk; probably less.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked This campsite is great. Really nice atmosphere, pub onsite that does good food! Lovely location overlooking the river, it was perfect for a last minute booking!

Disliked As lots of people mention the communal toilets/showers, they are pretty bad - but I have been to worse!! I have definitely been to worse put it like that.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Spacious pitches with both individual electrical and water hook ups which was great. Great location and very close to friendly pub with good beer and food.

Disliked The toilet block was shocking. Very dated, no hot water in the sink taps and no soap to wash your hands.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Plenty of room - I was the only camper.
A call to the proprietor informed me was in Tenerife and had instructed Pitchup not to accept any bookings. However, I did not need a hookup, WiFi, or anything, so I was able to pitch where I liked.
(But I note that Pitchup charged for a hookup, which I didn't want)

Disliked The location is nice, but the site was tired and dog-eared.

Liked Quite location

Disliked No one was on site as the owner was on holiday. The land wasn’t very well maintained and the facilities were dirty and full of bugs and spider webs

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Called number as the receptionist was closed due to later arrival and they answered straight away. Spacious pitch. Basic but clean and well kept facilities. Site is very rural so that does come with the farm smells but made no difference to me and the price was very reasonable. Walking distance to lovely pub that served a tasty breakie.

Disliked Ok for a 1-3 night stay to explore the area as a base but I wouldn't want an extended stay due to basic facilities. A little rough round the edges in places.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Pitch itself was lovely, next to the water and peaceful. Pub next door is great.

Disliked Didn't use the toilets but had a look and they are extremely basic and in need of repair. The steps up to the block are dangerous and felt like one wrong foot would send me flying down the steps or though them. Be very careful. As I said we were self contained so didn't need to use these facilities.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury (five minutes' drive) hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. Also on your doorstep are the Cotswolds (from half an hour's drive) and attractive towns and cities such as Cheltenham (35 minutes) and Gloucester (half an hour). Ledbury (25 minutes), with its timber-framed houses and 17th-century market house, is also within striking distance. If you're yet to get your full fill of historic sites, head along to Eastnor Castle (20 minutes) or British Camp Hill Fort (25 minutes) in the Malvern Hills National Landscape or treat yourself to a ride on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (35 minutes' drive)
