  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the River Severn
  • Close to a riverside 15th-century inn
  • A 50-minute walk into the historic town of Tewkesbury
Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink... The Willows is a small, friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location: despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

What customers say

Riverside campsite with spacious pitches. Friendly staff & nearby pub are highlights. However, toilet/shower facilities are dated & can be unkempt or basic. Despite cleanliness concerns for some, many enjoyed the peaceful setting and plan to return.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Very pleasant stay on the grass pitch only field. It was nice and quiet surrounded by nature, friendly staff, loos and showers recently painted, basic but clean.
Great location by the river for walks, paddle boarding and a nice pint and meal at the authentic old pub, The Lower Lode Inn, after should you fancy.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Location was excellent, lots of willow trees, on the riverside and a pub on the doorstep.

Disliked Toilets and showers were very dilapidated. Not very clean and lots of things broken (lights, toilet seats, soap dispenser etc). Only one usable shower for males and it’s tiny. The building isn’t heated and would be unpleasant in cold weather.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice pub nearby riverside location.

Disliked Dirty showers/toilets. No hot water in loos. Wash up area hot water but not clean. The whole site very run down and at £30 a night far too expensive. I paid for 2 nights but left after 1 night. Wouldn't recommend the place.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.
