  • Small, peaceful farm site with fishing on the England/Wales border
  • A 10-minute drive from the Forest of Dean; 30 minutes to a Go Ape site
  • Cycle hire 15 minutes' drive; bar and café on site
Settle in for an afternoon's fishing and look out for wildlife like deer, rabbits and birds, all in a lovely Welsh/English border locale among old oak trees and Neolithic stones… welcome to Broadstone Park. This is a small, peaceful and family-run site between the market towns of Monmouth and Coleford, named after those Neolithic stones and in an area with plenty of options for walking, cycling and other outdoorsy activities. Indeed, the site is well-liked among the mountain biking community. Set yourself up for a day of pedalling at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, 15 minutes' drive away, or a day of family-friendly activities at Puzzlewood, 10 minutes' drive away. Back at base, there is a small spring-fed coarse fishery for guests' use, stocked with carp, rudd, perch and bream and open daily from dawn to dusk. There's also a bar and a café on site for easy refreshments. Other facilities at Broadstone Park include a toilet and shower block.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Stunning location and scenery.
Excellent friendly staff.
Bar onsite. Excellent fresh pizza.
Lots of space even when busy.
Onside fishing pools.
Great for walks into Forest of Dean

Disliked: Seemingly the world's smallest washing up facilities with a single small sink.
Separate charge for electric - expensive compared to other sites. Pre charged then any outstanding charge will be returned BUT make sure you ask how to get meter reading BEFORE you disconnect.
Limited toilet facilities on main site (2 toilets and a urinal in mens).
Toilets not the cleanest during our stay.
Elson point at furthest point from touring field. Would be better if by toilet block.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: friendly site staff - cafe facilities especially pizzas - prices v reasonable so happy to spend - bathroom facilities working condition with warm water - clean overall - guests behaved so no need to complain about loud noise when trying to get children to sleep - would visit again

Disliked: bathroom needs modernising but it’s not a deal breaker as clean and functional - maybe a little more facilities to keep children occupied (currently has a swing and slide which was enjoyed by all kids so not really a criticism but maybe a few more bits would make it even better)..

Liked: As Taffys, we loved that we were put on a the Welsh side of the campsite. Nice little touch. The site as a whole is beautiful. Our daughters loved the animals and the park.

The facilities were great. The pizza delicious! And the Saturday night entertainment and bar were fab! When we arrived Jake showed us around and gave us all the information we needed.

I would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again!

Local attractions

Straight from the rear of the site are several woodland walks, one of which takes guests past the Broad Stone, after which Broadstone Park was named. Others cover part of Offa's Dyke and walks to Monmouth, the River Wye and local viewpoints like famed Symonds Yat: ask the site team for their faves to follow. Also in the area are heritage options like Caldicot Castle and the Clearwell Caves, and the buildings and pleasure grounds of the Kymin, highly praised by one Admiral Nelson (take the trek up to the Round House for the best views). Many other walks, cycle paths and swinging around in the trees at Go Ape are in the Forest of Dean, half an hour's drive away, and both Monmouth and Coleford are around 15 minutes' drive away for more urbanised days out.
