General

  • Small fishing and farm campsite on the England/Wales border
  • In a peaceful scenic setting among old oak trees and Neolithic stones
  • Close to Go Ape! and the Forest of Dean

Land a fish for the frying pan and sizzle up your catch on the campfire, looking out for wildlife like deer, rabbits and birds, all in a lovely Welsh/English border locale among old oak trees and Neolithic stones… welcome to Broadstone Park.

This is a small and family-run campsite between the market towns of Monmouth and Coleford, named after those Neolithic stones and in an area with plenty of options for walking, cycling and other outdoorsy activities. A small spring-fed fly fishery is on sites for guests' use, open daily from dawn to dusk.

Facilities at Broadstone Park include a newly added toilet and shower block and a small camp shop selling local produce groceries such as free-range eggs, burgers and sausages: most of those could be sizzled up on a campfire too...

Please note

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Loved this place, had a warm welcome all very relaxed. Within distance of some beautiful walks. Good pubs. The shower block was very clean. We camped under a big old oak tree which was stunning. We may have been the only campers there but it made no difference. There little café was excellent. Definitely will go back and for longer.

Fun and friendly welcome, relaxed attitude and encouraging real camping. Gently sloping field, pretty countryside all around and magnificent ancient oak trees scattered through it. Spotlessly clean brand new loo block. Loo disposal unit and Mt bike wash were fab. Great cafe with lovely sitting out area overlooking lake. And v reasonable rates with no extra charges.

    Disliked:

The A road at the end of the field could be a bit noisy if sleeping in a tent on a quiet summers night.

We have just returned from here and have to say that NOT once did we see the shower/ toilet facilities grubby at any point during our stay, the staff regularly check and clean them until late in the evening.
The noise mentioned on the review below was not the campsite owners fault, it was a private party in a nearby house and I know from the many times we visit this was a 'one off'.
We love coming here as there is a lovely little café that serves breakfast and evening meals which they will deliver to your pitch. ( tip: you can pre- order your evening meal which is useful as they do get busy)
Being able to sit around a fire in the evenings listening to the owls, watching the bats and observing the stars is our highlight, any slight traffic noise is soon forgotten.

friendly staff, got to pick our own pitch on flat ground. lots of space for kids to play. nice play area but maybe need to add some stuff for bigger kids!

    Disliked:

sadly the house next door must be used as a party venue and had a band playing on Thursday night! did turn off at half 11 but guests still shouting at 12 and being in a valley it echoes. would not normal mind to much but after traveling half way across the country I really need some sleep.
found the toilets quite grubby ( have a shower first thing, before they get drity) the mop kept in the toilet/shower block was black and obviously not been washed in a while.
Next door to a main road so is very noise, even at night with lorrys going past.
Wi-Fi only works down by the cafe!

The staff are friendly and allowed us to use the food area to play cards and drink our own drinks after we had eaten there, due to the pitch next to ours being loud.
Site was pretty and had a woodland walk off site.
A good location / allowed fires / served food.

    Disliked:

How close we were to each pitch, but this might have been due to it being a bank holiday

Others cover part of Offa's Dyke and walks to Monmouth, the River Wye and local viewpoints like famed Symonds Yat: ask the camnpsite team for their faves to follow.

Also in the area are heritage options like Caldicot Castle and the Clearwell Caves, and the buildings and pleasure grounds of the Kymin, highly praised by one Admiral Nelson (take the trek up to the Round House for the best views).

Many other walks, cycle paths and swinging around in the trees at Go Ape! are in the Forest of Dean, easily accessible from the campsite, and both Monmouth and Coleford are around 15 minutes' drive away for urbanised days out.
