Site 2 for non-electric pitches

  • Gloucestershire family campsite with Cotswold Hills views
  • A 15-minute drive to Cotswold Farm Park; 30 minutes to Blenheim Palace
  • Five minutes’ drive to Stow-on-the-Wold; bus service nearby
Along with a spacious grass camping ground (as one might expect of sporting pitches), Stow-on-the-Wold Rugby Club has some seriously eye-catching views of the Cotswold Hills. This site is in a fab location just outside the historic village of Stow-on-the Wold in Gloucestershire, making it a smashing spot for family rambles, touring and gallivanting all over the Cotswolds. From the hilltop pitches, you can walk for miles on local footpaths without going near a road (thus making this a cracking base for cyclists too), and if you’re keen to get on the golf course, you can book a round at Naunton Downs Golf Club (10 minutes). Eager to do some city sightseeing but prefer to leave the vehicle behind? No worries, a local bus service leaving from the local village of Oddington (a short walk away) can whisk you off to theatreland in Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes) or the dreaming spires of Oxford (55 minutes). Back on site, simple facilities include showers, toilets and a wifi connection (around the clubhouse) so you can keep in touch with the folk back home. Being in the Cotswold hills, the ground slopes in places. Stow (five minutes’ drive) has cafés, bars and a couple of small and handy stores for basics. For more amenities, the best stop is Moreton-in-Marsh (15 minutes) for markets, pubs, supermarkets and indie shops. It’s also got a mainline rail station with services to London.

What customers say

This is a well-located, peaceful campsite with friendly and helpful staff, particularly campsite manager Vicky. Guests praise the clean facilities, beautiful views, and ample space. While some note pitches can be sloping and may require levelling blocks, and the clubhouse is seasonally open, the overall experience is highly recommended for its value and convenience for exploring the Cotswolds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The site is clean and tidy, good showers and toilets, and plenty of hot water for washing up! It's handily placed for visiting much of the Cotswolds; we used public transport to get to Moreton in Marsh and Batsford Arboretum, as well as Bourton in the Water. By car many more places are easily reachable.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Good communication from Vicky the manager and a spacious site. The toilets and showers were clean. Good location for the Cotswolds especially the lovely nearby town of Stow on the Wold.

Disliked The field really sloped down where we were on no 11 and it was quite a walk up to the facilities and washing up station but we would stay again.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Peace, quiet and super dark at night. Stow itself is quite lovely. Great staff, clean washrooms.

Disliked Quite steep sloping pitches on the grass, impossible to get level. Long way (5km) into stow itself. And pretty steep in places.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The location was perfect for us as we use bikes to get around. Stow was only a 10 min bike ride on bridalways and quiet back roads. The views on site were absolutely stunning and Vicky (manager) was extremely helpful and super friendly.

Disliked We found the pitches were a little too close together. Our neighbouring camper had their door on the side that we were meant to pitch our awning so we had to pitch it on the other side. Which then affected the neighbours on that side.

Showers were gloriously hot and electric so no continuous button pressing. Which was great, but my dislike was that the cubicle was very tiny.
