Liked Hillside views from the site were good
Disliked Arrived after dark to find sheep wandering around the site…. And with sheep comes sheep poop. Not ideal when you’re camping with kids, hygiene in the tent etc. came home and had to scrub the groundsheet clean this morning.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Sorry you didn't enjoy the 'experience'. We try to describe our site as accurately as possible and hope the many other reviews reflect this and guests take this into account prior to booking. We feel the pricing is accurate/favourable for the area and facilities on site as it offers couples, families and small groups a very reasonably priced getaway in a beautiful area with limited but acceptable and clean facilities for a few pounds a night. We are disappointed to see (assume) that cleanliness is marked down to errant sheep in the camping/motorhome field as the toilets/shower cubicle is generally of a good/excellent standard when checked (frequently). Kind regards.

Brilliant back to basics pop up site 100 % will be going back
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Loved the space for tents, I have teenagers and they don’t want to be in with their mum anymore so worked well. Loved that you pay for pitch not what you put on it.
Location was amazing.
Friendly owners. Cost was perfect for a pop up, no frills campsite.
It was an old school site like they used to be with respect for all from owners to other campers.
Loved the sheep and chicken visits throughout the day. 😊
Showers and toilets were very clean and always toilet roll. I’ve been to bigger more expensive sites where they are a lot worse. There is only 2 toilets but again I don’t mind that and is a small site and didn’t need to Queue at all.
Lots of freedom for children.
Beautiful walks and bikes from the site.
Loved the site and everything about it.
Disliked If I have to put one. It didn’t bother me but shower wasn’t working for one day.
I actually think a fuse went or someone turned it off.
WiFi is bad but again if you are camping in a valley that’s what you get.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Glad you had a pleasant visit. We don't offer any WiFi on site and unfortunately the phone signal isn't great in the area. Kind regards.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked This has to go down as the site with the most beautiful view. Even as you drive down to it, you get a stunning view of the Dragons Back.
Loads of room to pitch and he doesn’t allow too many on so you’re not on-top of each other.
Toilet perfect fine and clean and always loads of loo roll. Shower clean.
You can do the Dragons Back right from the site or a smaller walk over Hollins Hill into Hollinsclough and a trip to the tearoom or honesty shop.
The warden onsite was super lovely and great for advising.
We also had a day at Buxton Raceway which is just a 20 min walk.
Plus there are the hilarious sheep, bleating away to each other all weekend and the chickens roaming around.
Can’t wait to go again next season.
Disliked Literally nothing to dislike.

Beautiful location, serving as a good base for local scenic walks.
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked The site is in a beautiful location and great camp as a base for a walk around the dragon's back. The team on site were very friendly and relaxed about paying the remainder of the fee. We liked the ponies, chickens and very vocal sheep!
Disliked Toilet and shower facilities are a little limited (two porta-loos and a shower-shower when we were there), time your visits well. The site is on a bit of a slope, so snag a flat bit if you can. There is a race track nearby which can be very noisy when race day is happening.

Disliked Had 2 dogs, lots of sheep poo in the camping area, we appreciate it’s a farm but the camping area was affected massively. And we were advised that they were kept separate. Maybe difficult for tents . Had to pick up lots of sheep poo for a clean area for dogs.

Comments noted. Farmer going to dig out his cattle grid this week and lower a gate a bit so hopefully that'll stop the beggars from keep wandering in.
Amazing value for money!

Liked Amazing wild campsite. Friendly owners and guests. The facilities were clean and modern. Offered us so much help to get around Buxton and taxi numbers. Couldn’t have asked for more from the owners. We will definitely be booking again!

Liked Really beautiful site, peaceful and well maintained
The Saturday was fairly full but still felt like lots of space and privacy
Also there's a second loo now! If you're worried about earlier reviews commenting on that. Didn't need to queue, shower nice and hot, people friendly
Nice to see chickens and sheep roaming around, and horses in a field nearby
