Camping pod (hot tub)

Liked It is a lovely place to stay
Though it was quite hot, so the hot tub was too hot to use, we didn’t stay in it for very long..
Nice hot showers and toilet Area
Owners were very helpful

Disliked No bed linen or pillows, you have to bring your own. Not ideal.
Other camping pods, quite close together
With not very good privacy when you’re on your patio area

1 bedroom bell tent (deluxe, hot tub, plus)

Liked We had a blast! As a family we rented 4 tee-pee tents with hot tubs, they were well equipped with: picnic benches, fridge, kettle, bed sheets, lighting, bowls, cups and cutlery. The beds were comfy and the insulated tents were warm throughout the night. The staff were accommodating and friendly, topping up our fire hot tubs as and when needed. We enjoyed Sam Snacks van breakfast on our last morning. The large flat field was perfect for bikes and cricket. We would highly recommend a visit. The pitches are well spaced out, we didn’t hear anyone from other tents at night. Although the road was rather noisy and it’s on a flight path but we all still slept well. We enjoyed a bike rides and walks down the canal, which is at the bottom of the road.

Camping pod (hot tub, plus)

Liked This is our second stay and is now our 'go to' place for a peaceful break. The accommodation is roomy and has all you need for a short stay. The hot tub for us is a must have and at Hill Farm they are clean, easy to use, with wood/kindling etc provided (more wood can be purchased on site if needed). The showers and toilets are good and the staff do their best to keep them clean and tidy. We have stayed in both a pod and a bell tent, both were fab. The site is in a good location, there are some lovely walks by the canal and 3 good pubs/restaurants nearby. There is a hot food van on site, open for breakfast and evening meals. The staff are really friendly and helpful, they don't stop working to make your stay a pleasant one. There was a slight glitch in the booking site we used but there was no problem sorting it out which meant we could still have a fab break away as planned. Thank you guys for a perfect stay, we will hopefully be back soon .

Disliked Nothing, for us it's perfect 👌

Liked The Bell tent with the extra shelter was great extra space to have. Having a fridge, electric and kettle in there was an added bonus. The burger van available for breakfast and dinner was handy and the icecream van too!

Local attractions

Barrow On Trent may be a peaceful spot, but if day trips are your thing you’ll likely appreciate its excellent transport links: major roads like the A50, A6 and M1 are all within easy reach. The local area's got a lot going for it, too: anglers can spend their days at nearby Robinwood Lakes (10 minutes' drive), while speed demons can zoom down to Donington Park race circuit (15 minutes) or East Midlands Aeropark (20 minutes). For more high-adrenaline adventure, head to the classic rides at Alton Towers theme park (40 minutes).  For days spent at a gentler pace, head to the house and grounds at Elvaston Castle Country Park (15 minutes) or the National Trust's Calke Abbey (15 minutes). More history is on hand at Derby's Pickford House Museum (20 minutes) – swing by here to try on some Regency costumes (if you think you can pull them off).  In need of some nature therapy? Head for the Peaks for walks in the spectacular valleys around Dovedale (50 minutes) or bracing hilly hikes like the Win Hill trail (about an hour and a quarter). For an unconventional stroll closer to base, pencil in a date with the Charnwood Forest alpacas (20 minutes).
