What customers say

This spacious campsite boasts stunning Peak District views and direct access to Lathkill Dale walks. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owners, clean facilities including new shower blocks, and the relaxed atmosphere. The site is ideal for families, groups, and solo travellers. On-site food vans are a popular bonus. While generally well-received, some mention occasional queues for facilities during busy periods and the walk to amenities from certain pitches.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Arrived reception closed, but few numbers to call once I spoke to ed he said pick any pitch so firstly we picked the one at the top behind the toilets with a beautiful view but as it was windy and fairly open we opted to get tucked in the corner pitch next to the wall still seeing the view but felt safer (haha) wish we could of stayed longer some of the land is sloped

Disliked The only thing really was the toilets being dirty but when we stayed there seemed to be a large group guessing kids on a camping trip with school or something but they left the toilets in a mess no toilet paper, pee on the seats not just one on several as well as not flushing after there no2 and one toilet was blocked (males) just a real shame really that some people could just leave it like that!

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Big field and area to walk around.

Disliked Cold water in the showers on Sunday. Toilet bins were overflowing.

From the manager: Hi unfortunately there was a 5 minute power cut at midnight on the Saturday night which caused one of the boilers to need resetting, once we did that on Sunday morning all was good and back to the temperature you had had for the previous three days. Thanks for your review and we hope you have a good day 😊

Local attractions

Scenic walks are to be had along the namesake river in Lathkill Dale, where you can stride out towards Lathkill Head Cave (an hour and 20 minutes’ walk) or marvel at the clear springs at The Blue Waters near the peaceful village of Over Haddon (35 minutes). For a slightly longer ramble, Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (90 minutes) reward with prehistoric monuments and ancient burial mounds. Combine your stroll around the verdant grounds at Chatsworth House with a guided tour of the mansion’s ornate rooms packed with priceless antiques, or take in the Elizabethan Walled Gardens at Haddon Hall (both 20 minutes’ drive) after you’ve admired the tapestry collection and medieval chapel. For an insight into Peak District heritage, visit the bijou Eyam Museum (also 20 minutes) in the famed ‘plague village’ to learn the story of the Bubonic Plague of 1346–52, or have a wander around the deserted remains of Magpie Mine (five minutes’ drive), which was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire and closed in 1958.
