What customers say
This roomy campsite has gorgeous views & direct Lathkill Dale access, with friendly, helpful owners. Facilities, including new washrooms, are generally clean. Guests love the chill vibe, pitch variety & onsite food. Though busy weekends can be crowded/noisy & water pressure dips sometimes, most enjoyed their stay & want to return.

Loved the place & the views & will definitely be going back
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Loved it here, the views are amazing with the sunsets & sunrises. The walks are really good too. We did travel about abit & to come home to a lovely clean campsite that’s well looked after make the experience wonderful. Had food vans on site 3 nights which were lovely.
Owner/Staff very friendly & always helpful. They have an indoor kitchen which had a coffee machine & this was a great touch especially for when we arrived & left.
There was a lot of people onsite for the weekend & lots of people having fun but it didn’t disturb us as you could pitch up where ever you wanted with no restrictions which we loved. After a few days we moved to a different field & it felt like a different holiday as you had different views & was just lovely.
You can hire fire pits & they are really lovely to have the full camping experience. We stayed 5 nights & didn’t have any disturbances in the nights. It was my first time at this site but my sisters second & we will definitely be going back
Disliked This isn’t a dislike more like a suggestion. There’s only mirrors in the woman’s toilets over the sinks so there lots of people that stand in front of the sinks putting contacts in doing makeup/hair & there’s no room for if you just want to wash your hands.
Maybe put a few mirrors up with shelf’s in front & a couple of plugs somewhere so you can dry your hair & people can put there makeup bags on a shelf. But really not a moan or a dislike.

Fabulous stay cannot wait for the next one
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Fabulous clean free showers and well maintained facilities
Really freindly relaxed owners. always happy to help.
Huge space - to ensure capacity is always managed and there’s plenty of space to enjoy them fabulous views.
Perfect location - to be able to walk in such beautiful scenery without the need for the car is very peaceful.
Good facilities put on in summer Ie pizza van bar etc good touches.
Disliked - small but I think pricing of the pop up bar should be reviewed.
- also the shop pricing could also be reviewed.

Large relaxed site, informal pitching, great…
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Large relaxed site, informal pitching, great views and good local walks. Dog friendly. Quiet after 11 pm. Nice area with picnic benches and at weekend vans selling pizza, snacks and booze. Breakfast too.
Disliked Block was spotless but probably insufficient for such a massive campsite on a busy weekend. Had vehicles moving close to it with no signage or speed control

Very disappointing & insufficient facilities for the number of campers
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Lovely location. Good walks from site
Disliked Insufficient facilities for the amount of people. Big queues for the ladies toilets and then no toilet paper. The camping fields were like a massive ghettos. Hard to find a flat spot and certainly not quiet. Very disappointing.

From the manager: Hi Tracey, sorry our campsite wasn’t up to your standards and you thought it was too busy. What can I say if you ever run a business as successful and as popular as ours being busy will be a problem you will have. Keep smiling 😊
Open fields and choice of pitches…
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Open fields and choice of pitches
Location very nice
Disliked Although clean, for size of site more
toilet and shower block facilities should be available.
Lack of bins (including dog waste bins) around site.
Shop stock extremely limited, do not except to stock up on essentials eg.milk

From the manager: Hi Georgina, thanks for your review, you are slightly more positive than your friend you pitched with she was a 2/10 sorry we sold out of a few essentials this weekend. I am in talks with Tesco to get a franchise on site but it’s not looking promising. We have a large skip you can dispose of your mess near the entrance which has worked pretty well for the last 20 years 😊
Would stay again, great for kids, clean facilities, great area
Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked - Free to choose any pitch
- clean and new toilets/showers
- kids felt safe to visit animals/rope swing
- food vans on site on a weekend
- Small shop on site
- Although it was busy, it didn’t feel crowded
- great location for exploring Bakewell & surrounding towns
Disliked - not a dislike more a recommendation of placing a bench of some kind in the shower/wet rooms for shower bag/belongings
- we stayed over a long weekend and music/talking could be heard after midnight across the field, not a dislike just advice for people reading if they prefer a quieter site

Disliked Showers were a bit cool but not cold!

Definitely up there as one of my favourite campsites.
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked This is a fantastic campsite. The pitches are varied and the views of rolling hills are exceptional. Not only that but the facilities were excellent, in addition to the new shower & loo blocks there were freezers for ice blocks, fridge space available, charging points, a coffee machine AND a pizza truck, a breakfast truck and a bar.
Disliked Not so much 'disliked' but a suggestion, would be hooks near the basins and maybe a stool/chair in the showers. Great that there was a mop but wondered if would be useful if the showers had a long squeegee for the floor?
