Builth Wells, Powys, Wales
Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked The site itself is fine, probably just not for us. Overlooks a bend on the Irfon river - ideal for fishing. Site well maintained, although a bit water-logged.
Disliked Unless you enjoy fishing, there is not much else on for families - although there is a very small playground hidden away.
There doesn't seem to be many local footpaths, so walks are on the roads which is less than ideal.

Ingleton, North Yorkshire, England
Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked Beautiful location - rights out in the hills.
Fantastic shower-block, toilets, washing-up and Elsan facilities.
Helpful staff on site who provided info, key for facilities. Good comms prior-to-arrival.
Fantastic position to explore the Waterfall trail.
Disliked Quite an exposed site up on the hills - so needs to be the right weather and the right equipment.
Nothing for the kids except the great outdoors.
Very long narrow drive from "civilisation" up to the campsite - 2 1/12 miles, with not many passing points - so not for the faint-hearted! Although you can't go the wrong way - some more signs might be reassuring.

Haverigg, Cumbria, England
Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked Location was lovely - really nice beach/dune side position. Plenty for the kids to explore.
The staff were very helpful getting us set up as we arrived quite late.
Disliked The site was a bit cramped for my tastes - I’m used to sites with a bit more room around the pitches.

Electric gravel touring pitch (medium)
Liked Friendly staff on site and great indoor swimming pool. Lots for kids to do at the bar/entertainment area.
Shower/toilet block clean and good size.
Disliked Outdoor washing up area needs improvement- 2 sinks, only 1 working hot tap, no cold, no plugs. Also hot too hot!

Shotley Bridge, Northumberland, England
Non-electric hardstanding and grass tent or motorhome pitch (large)
Liked The site is nicely positioned with lovely views and only a 30 minute walk to Derwent Reservoir. The pitches are really nicely laid-out - spacious, level, with fencing which gives a feeling of privacy.
There also are a few bunnies and chickens on site which are nice for the kids to pet.
The chap that runs the site was really nice and helpful. He helped us inflate our squashy football - which kept the kids busy. We were also able to buy some firewood from him - which was great. He also has fire pits available (we had our own).
Oh, and how can I forget - it is right next to the pub "The Manor House Inn", which is really handy if the weather turns out horrible (which it was for a bit), or if you can't be bothered to cook or, god-forbid - "run out of alcohol"!
Disliked Very few dislikes. There is currently only 1 male toilet and 1 male shower on-site, same for women I think. Also 1 washing-up area. But building work is currently in progress to provide more facilities. Not a huge problem though as it is a relatively small site.
A bit of traffic noise - as fairly close to the road, but not enough to disturb.

Criccieth, Gwynedd, Wales
Electric grass touring pitch
Liked A fairly basic campsite - but nice & quite and on-site “staff” helpful & friendly, Shower and toilet facilities nice & clean, if perhaps a little small for site. Good location - 1.5 miles down the hill to Criccieth. Great on a bicycle, but a bit of a struggle back up.
No frills - but suited us perfectly,
Disliked Had a little trouble finding the place as the GPS coordinates given are next to a static caravan park. It’s just a bit further than that on the left - on a RH bend.
