General

  • Quiet rural site a mile from the amenities of Criccieth
  • Within half an hour's drive of Snowdonia and Llyn Peninsula beaches
  • Pet-friendly site with dog walking area

Bring on the beach days, the mountain walks, the castles, the outdoorsy antics – Llwyn Bugeilydd Caravans and Camping’s cracking Criccieth location is mighty handy for whatever combo of the above features on your north Wales hitlist.

This pretty park (where the owners take pride in their colourful gardens) is a mile away from the town centre, putting you within a few minutes’ drive of the beach, castle, pubs and all-important chip shop. Energetic sorts can trot down here in 20 minutes or so, and there’s also a bus stop just outside the park gates for lazier (or less clement) days.

Venturing further from site, you’re within a leisurely half-hour drive of Snowdonia National Park, a cluster of castles and beaches galore on the Llyn Peninsula, plus all manner of open-air activities such as coasteering, sea kayaking, quad biking, golf and tramping on the Wales Coast Path.

All tuckered out and in need of a rest after all the antics? Llwyn Bugeilydd’s peaceful vibe should fit the bill – no noisy activities here to interfere with your relaxing break (although there is a playground and a dog walking area for any lively companions). The smart toilet/shower block is kept spankingly clean, and there’s a launderette to deal with any mucky togs.

We were personally welcomed by the man running the park who was lovely and very helpful, we had a massive choice of where we wanted to pitch up so we were very happy with that. The showers and all other facilities were very well kept. The site itself was very clean and had amazing views!

Friendly People, Quiet and Chilled Place To Stay! Facilities very clean and only a mile or 2 away from the town of Criccieth! All amenities within a mile of the accomodation.. Dogs are welcome and free of charge and there is also a field just for dogs to run and play in! My Chihuahua & Staffie loved it! Safe and secure little field to let them free! Very welcoming! Will definitely be coming again! Oh! And Free Wifi!

There wasn't anything I like about this site for the simple reason we didn't get to PITCH UP there,
We emailed the owner the day before to tell him what time to expect us, guess what he wasn't there we waited 2 hours for him constantly phoning him which went straight to answer phone.
Speaking to the locals (seasonal pitches) they couldn't see where he was going to put us.
Having walked the site myself several times neither could I or my brother in law
After waiting several hours I decided to go and have a look at another site having to leave my wife child dog and caravan there. Gladly we found another site
After returning several times to speak to him we eventually did this on the Friday the day before we where leaving.
We explained our situation to which he then replied he had room he will show us now to which I replied its OK we are going home tonight he the described where he was going to put us and it was right in front of the seasonal pitches and he was going to use a 240 vault splitter.
I am pretty sure that this would have been illegal as you wouldn't be able to tow the other vans out if there would have been a fire.
We then asked him for OUR £24.50 deposit back to which he replied TAKE IT UP WITH PITCHUP. COM

We arrived at the time we stated on booking this site only the site owner was not there. We waited for around 2 hours sat on the road with young children, repeatedly trying to contact the owner (his phone was switched off) to no avail. We walked around the site a few times and saw there were no available pitches with electric for myself and my sister who also booked. There weren't even spaces separately. We ended up luckily getting into a brilliant campsite down the road. We visited the site owner on 3 separate occasions to try and sort out why he left us with no pitch and wasn't available to check us in, he didn't even give a response, he didn't care. Disgusting customer service, I will never recommend this site to anyone.

Local attractions

Start your Welsh wanderings in Criccieth – there are often family-friendly events at the 15th-century castle, and there’s a small stretch of beach for paddling. A few minutes out of town, the Lloyd George Museum and Dwyfor Ranch Rabbit Farm and Animal Park are worth a trip.

For more beaches, continue west to the Llyn Peninsula; Porthdinllaen, Abersoch and Pwllheli all have excellent sandy stretches, and there are heaps of coastal antics to get stuck into at activity centres over here.

If you like a hike, you can hit the Wales Coast Path with a stroll of 20 minutes or so, or head to Snowdonia National Park for mountain scrambles or gentler rambles around the lakes and waterfalls. And if that’s all a bit much, there are scenic train rides to be had on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway.

For a spot of history and culture, half an hour’s drive will take you to pretty Portmeirion, Caernarfon Castle, Harlech Castle or Porthmadog’s Maritime Museum.
