Falls Park: View over the site Falls Park: Track around the site

General

  • Quiet site in the Yorkshire Dales one mile from Ingleton Waterfalls
  • A 10-minute drive from White Scar Cave; access to the waterfall trail
  • Ingleton village within walking distance for pubs, shops and eateries

Off to the Yorkshire Dales to delve down into caves or to venture up into the Yorkshire Three Peaks? Whether it’s caverns, waterfall trails or the mountains that have drawn you to this area, Falls Park makes a quiet and spacious dog-friendly base in a handy spot a mile from Ingleton and 10 minutes’ drive away from White Scar Cave and 20 minutes from Kirkby Lonsdale (a historic market town with the medieval Devil’s Bridge).

From here you’ll be off to see waterfalls in no time, as the site has access to the nearly five-mile Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, a long-established and popular trail that's all about the sublime scenery. Please note that access to the Waterfalls Trail is an additional cost for customers. On top of that, the site itself has views of a limestone valley and Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks and a prime spot for a challenging hike between the summits.

Peaceful’s the vibe here, as that’s how the site has been planned and designed, so you’ll be all ready to unwind with the scenic Yorkshire Dales landscape surrounding you. Facilities include a chemical toilet disposal point, drinking water points, washing-up room, wifi and an amenities block with a male, female and disabled toilet and shower.

With Ingleton village within walking distance (an hour and 10 minutes’ walk away or 10 minutes’ drive), powering up before your next outing is easily done, thanks to its food shops, restaurants, tearooms and pubs.

Please note there is a steep single-track road to access the site, which is very narrow. Whilst there are occasional passing places on the lane, this site is only suitable for campervans and motorhomes.

What a location! Very flat spacious pitches. Clean, modern facilities. I was nervous about the access having read other reviews but it really wasn't difficult. I drive a Sprinter van and yes it's a single road but there are passing places and you can see along way ahead. Falls Park is a great base for walkers and photographers alike. Ingleton is a short walk and there's shops and places to eat.

    Disliked:

The walk to the shower block is very dark after sundown. Would be nice to have a few lights but I just used a torch. I found it a little confusing when I pulled up, maybe a reception sign or checkin here sign on the way in would be helpful.

This site is amazing, it's a very scenic and peaceful location we even spotted a Roe deer in the grounds on our first evening! Beautiful walks directly off the site, the facilities are exceptional, spotlessly clean with everything you could need we had a lovely relaxing weekend despite the changeable British weather

    Disliked:

The timed light in the shower block went off a bit quicker than we'd like but came on again after I'd stumbled around a bit (ha ha) but it certainly didn't spoilt our stay

Excellent toilet and shower block. Looked newly built

    Disliked:

Found owners a little rude. Having to leave for 10 yet you can't go on site until 3. Poor evening lighting from touring field to toilet block Rain was horrendous on the day we were coming home and we were hoping for a bate so we could pack away but the owner came and remained us we had to be gone by 10 as they had new arrivals coming. It's not as though they had any cleaning up to do and as I mentioned earlier you can't get on site until 3.
It also doesn't mention the single track going to the site which as pull ins but not adequate for a car and caravan should you meet something coming the other way. Which we did but luckily we'd pitched the caravan and was only in the van. We had to reverse to let a low load trailer pass. Nightmare should we have had the caravan on.
Could do with a stop signal at the bottom on the road, which you can activate when leaving the site.

The location is amazing! Set back away from the village but still a short walk to the local pubs and shops.

Even on a very wet and windy late September week away we both very much enjoyed our time here - the dog absolutely loved it!

A great location to do the 3 peaks, we just did Whernside due to the weather but we will certainly be back to do the rest!

The toilet and shower block is brand new and the heating inside was very welcome!

I would highly recommend this site, the waterfall trail is breathtaking and well worth it!

Soggy ground but they’re working on that and I’m sure it’ll be great when it’s finished.
Access via Oddies lane very tight so be careful if you’re a long or wide load.

Local attractions

So where should you set your compass to first? There are impressive scenes all around, from guided tours around the longest show cave in Britain, White Scar Cave (10 minutes’ drive) to the mighty 104-foot-high Ribblehead Viaduct (15 minutes) with its 24 arches towering over the moorlands.

The threads of nature run strong here too and that’s evident from Gisburn Forest (40 minutes), where walking, cycling and mountain biking trails are just some of the ways to snake through the treetops and spy on skulking wildlife. There’s a nature trail over at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes) too – but of course cave walks are where the action’s really at.

Up towards the sky instead, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (half an hour) might already be the quest you have in mind, but if not, perhaps you’ll want to give the 24-mile route over Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent a go while you’re here.

For an easier day out, take a hike around Malham Cove (40 minutes) or stroll around Skipton (45 minutes), a market town with lots of places to eat, as well as a traditional town hall, castle, museum and gallery.

Must see

  • Levens Hall & Gardens (14.5 miles)
  • Sizergh Castle and Garden (15.1 miles)
  • Lancaster Castle (16.5 miles)

  • Malham Tarn Estate (12.2 miles)
