Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked In a great location for walking or just enjoying the views of the Kilburn Horse. Small site with 5 pitches.
Owners came round to make sure all ok and for us to pay the balance, nice couple to deal with.
We will be back.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch (no awning)
Liked Great pitches, very well maintained with hedges separating the pitches. Picnic benches on every pitch. Everything very clean and tidy. This is a very well laid out site and we were in a small back section of 4 pitches which suited us perfectly.
The staff are very friendly and informative.
Nice walk along the lane to get in to Pickering, took us 35mins to get to the centre
Disliked Limited showers, only one in each although nice and warm. Don’t have to wait too long to be fair but may be a problem if timing was wrong?

From the manager: Thanks for your review Mark Interestingly you rate us 9/10 value for money ... we have 23 pitches only in beautifully landscaped grounds totalling nearly 3 acres. Caravan site operator's licensing allows upto 30 units per acre and therefore we could fill the park with 90 pitches but we choose to (at great cost to us) only have 25 pitches so everybody enjoys large pitches with great views and meticulously maintained open areas. You can pay a lot more for some campsites locally that are more akin to a car park! Also, to set the record straight. we have 5 showers in 2 separate buildings. The new shower units opened in May costing £25,000 and showers are not obligatory for campsites with fewer than 70 pitches. According to standard UK campsite licensing guidelines, showers are only required to be installed once a site exceeds this threshold. For campsites that do provide showers, the standard licensing standard is 1 shower per 25 pitches 5 showers per 25 pitches therefore is incredibly generous and again provided at significant cost. Our 2 amenity blocks cost over £100k to build and , as above, we are not obliged to provide any

Electric optional grass pitch
Liked A spotless site which is one of the best we have stayed in.
Attention to detail was unbelievable.
We didn't have children with us but anyone bringing children will not be disappointed, with outdoor climbing/activity set-up which you would normally see at much larger parks.
Only strange one for me was using supplied Scandals when entering the toilets/shower rooms - each to their own.
Bikes to hire on site
Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Electric grass and gravel tent pitch
Liked Location high above Lake Garda with astonishing views. L'essenza is a hidden paradise.
Canpervam pitch very level with water and electricity plus WiFi throughout.
A shared swimming pool
The toilets and shower area kept spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water.
They grow their own fruit on site and also have bee hives so sell their own honey.
There is a sun terrace with views over Lake Garda and they serve food and drink at very good prices.

Non-electric grass pitch
Liked A nice and quiet site that is well looked after. Was surprised that it was not fuller but that probably had something to do with the weather. The owners are lovely people. This is the second time we have stayed here and is a perfect base or even a stop off point as it is just off the A1(M) and not far from the A19 with a very short drive in to Thirsk or Topcliffe.
The pitches are very large on the field side, all grass. There is a smaller section, probably for about 8-9 hard standing and grass pitches and these were large and very level.
If you are after all the bells and whistles, then this site is probably not for you. If you like a nice clean site, with nice showers and toilets (don't get carried away with this comment - you will not get heated floors, piped music, baths etc) that are more than adequate, large pitches, close to shops for essentials and easy access to the main trunk roads then this is the place for you

Electric grass pitch
Liked Greeted on arrival at the site and due to the Covid-19 restrictions, informed of what was and what wasn't open from a toilets/showers point of view. Toilet paper had been removed from the toilets so handed a roll by the owners so that everyone took their own to cut down on contact points. Hand sanitisers and anti-bac spray int he toilets and the shower.
Plenty of space for the pitches and very quiet.
Close to the M1 which could make this an ideal layover for people travelling North and South.
Disliked There was no pot wash facilities so bear that in mind (might have just been due to the restrictions that are in place for Covid-19)

From the manager: Hi Andrew Sorry the pot wash was not pointed out to you but it is open and fully functional. It was situated next to the fridge freezer.
