Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Absolutely incredible campsite with fantastic activities and animals to see. My kids absolutely loved the bouncy castle with unlimited free usage as well as seeing the goats, birds, parrots and the park facilities. For the adults in our group we thoroughly enjoyed the food that was an option in the bar/kitchen.

The toilet & shower facilities were spot on also.

Disliked The only very small disappointment was on the Saturday morning the kitchen was closed but if you aren't planning on eating onsite and have you own set up then no problems at all.

We have been twice now and cant wait to go again.

We and the kids thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and there were no issues at all.

Liked Great stay- lovey staff.
The facilities we used were clean & did the job.
Lots for the little ones to do. The goats & the birds were an added bonus. We had pizza one night which was great. Hope to return.

Liked The freedom to choose your own pitch. The size of the site is big enough that even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel cramped.
The site is in a lovely little village with some nice walks.

Disliked The facilities were tired and not very clean.

Liked The place was packed but great atmosphere, even though busy quiet at night for kids to go to bed and not be disturbed, lovely to see such a relaxed happy place, people still sat out at gone 11pm by there fires, which are allowed (can even rent firepit) yet nobody screaming and shouting just general chatter even peoples music lept down amd not blaring, everyone just seems so relaxed and respectful to others with noise, great to feed the goats, kids loved that, and bouncy castles for free is a great idea amd doesn't happen in many places, would 100% return but for longer next time 😊 food on site not expensive, clubhouse on site also not expensive, loads of seating areas that are covered, well thought out, no wonder they stay so busy. Kids loved it!!!!

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
