  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

This family-friendly campground offers spacious sites and a relaxed atmosphere. Goats and birds are a hit with kids! Facilities are mostly clean but basic, needing updates. Great for canal walks & village access. Some mention train noise & occasional cleanliness/availability issues, but improvements are ongoing.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The site was very quiet, even with the frequent trains that run alongside the edge of the camping field, this was not a problem at all.

There was plenty of space for pitches and this allowed us to create our own little bubble within the camping field whilst staying here with friends and family.

The onsite shop, bar, grab'n'go food outlet were convenient.

The petting zoo, play park, and bouncy castles are also a welcome facility as this gave the kids plenty to do.

Staff were really pleasant and helpful.

Overall, this is a really nice campsite... However it does require improvement.

Disliked There is a dire need to fully overhaul the toilet situation. It is in desperate need of more toilet blocks, and what was there half of which, weren't working or had been screwed shut. It requires at least another block of toilets and the maintenance of the outdoor wash facility also requires a lot of TLC.

They could do with another set of showers, but they were adequate for the amount of visitors that were there at the time.

And here's the big, "however".... The cleanliness of the toilets and showers were appalling. It stated they are checked every hour with a signing sheet to say they had been, but this was definitely just a signing sheet to say they were checked and not cleaned.

The also require more frequent emptying as they were constantly overflowing and nowhere near the number required to cater for a full site.

The shop, even though convenient, was just reselling Aldi brand products at a considerable mark-up, surely using a cash & carry would be more cost effective, and at least would hide the mark-up prices better. It would also benefit from stocking a wider range of everyday products in case of forgetting to bring something with you or if you ran out whilst there.

Liked Everything.
Clean facilities, even when other campers had abused the facilities the staff were quick to come and tidy and clean.
Pitch sizes, plenty of space, nice and flat and electric pitches have their own water supply.
Staff, cant do enough for you, shop open with plenty to offer, always very friendly and on hand to help with anything needed.
Park and bouncy castles to keep the kids busy, goats to feed and birds to see.

This is our second time here and will be visiting time and time again. Yes, there is a train that runs across the back of the site, its clearly stated on lots of reviews and on the site page itself, however, its not too much of an issue (and if youre a light sleeper, take some early plugs- problem solved)

We cant wait to cone back!

Disliked Coming home.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Fantastic for the kids with the park, bouncy castles, goats and birds. 100% kids favourite place to camp. Nice area close to the canal and lovely little town. Train track nearby offers something new and we enjoyed hearing and seeing the trains pass.

Disliked Showers and toilets. Showers are not the best, and they need to be cleaned more often. Because of all the children about, they get pretty horrible very quickly. They need a little investment to bring them up to standard in line with other sites.

Liked The site is quirky, we had no allocated pitch so was just park anywhere, it’s in a good location couple of pubs within walking distance

Disliked Showers poor no hot water for washing up. No motorhome service point to empty grey waste Rail line noise

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: There is hot water at the washing up areas, however you need to fill a washing up bowl with it. We tried at each basin, however found one camper would use all the hot water running the tap constantly. So in order for ever camper to have access to hot water we changed the system. Not many sites have drive over grey waste water points, rather than complaining buy hose attachments to reach our grey water points. The money you saved staying at our site compared to those that offer that has already paid for it.
Showers poor? Their clean, free, and electric so continuous hot water. Very rarely a wait time.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
