  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

Family-friendly site, spacious spots, clean facilities, relaxed vibe. Kids love the play area, bouncy castles & pet goats. Handy shop/food. Trains are close but rarely bother guests. Minor facility tweaks & noise addressed. Highly recommended for families.

Liked Absolute gem of a site, the goats, birds and bouncy castles kept my daughter entertained and it felt like a safe place. They have a tuck shop, bar and sheltered seating and serve food from 5. We would have been more than happy to spend a few more days here if we'd of had the time. Staff were friendly and everyone on site seemed respectful of each other.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked I actually booked the wrong dates and was not turned away despite it being a busy weekend. It's friendly, the kids roam free and have such fun. The bar area and animals are a lovely touch and it's a short walk to the canal if you want a walk or to find a little country pub.

Disliked There's a communal freezer which is a great idea but it doesn't work so well in hot weather with everyone in and out all day. Our freezer packs were in all day and weren't frozen but were cool. Not so much a dislike, becasue like I said, it's a great idea.

6-amp powered grass campsite

Liked We had a wonderful one night stay. We came with our two youngest children and picked the site purely for being family friendly and that it was. Its the type of place you can pitch up with just a tent, they have everything you need - serve breakfast and hot drinks, pizza from 3pm, burgers from 5pm. They have a little shop and a bar - nice cold lively pints and the outdoor seating area was great. Amenities were just what you need - clean and working. We didn’t check out the shower only being there one night. Kids were super happy, they loved the animals and play area. Ground were well kept. You can tell its a labour of love by the family that owns it. Felt like a safe site for the kids to be on and playing around. Hot running water for washing up too. Great site, we will be back in the summer holidays with all 6 of our kids. Thanks for a great stay!

Disliked Nothing. If I had to nit pick maybe a few more bins but we took all our rubbish with us anyway. Literally everything was great.

From the manager: I always ask nicely the first time! However when you continue with antisocial or unsafe behaviour my demeanour will change. Very few see this side, but it’s there for the good of every other camper on site.

Great- lovely staff & lots for the children to do

Liked Another gorgeous weekend at the dairy farm, it was absolutely buzzing with children playing & families having fun. The facilities are great, a nice little bar, goats to feed and bouncy castles for the kids. Lovely walks into the village.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
