  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

A great spot for families! Spacious sites, friendly faces, and fun extras like goats and bouncy castles. Good food and shop. Close to the village. Mostly clean and relaxed, though toilets could use a spruce-up and trains can be noisy. Still, a popular choice for a good time.

16-amp powered grass site

Liked At the weekend there was a bar and kitchen open and the shop. It was buzzing excellent place for families

Disliked On the Sunday when all the campers had left the facilities were filthy and were not cleaned until Monday morning. I accept that the bar and kitchen is not open during the week but the shop was also closed and with no shop in the village this was a problem

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: The site is cleaned on the Sunday. And there is a sign on the shop door with our contact number if the shop is needed. Would be a huge waste of money to pay someone to sit there with no one on site.

So a very inaccurate review, did I upset you? Hence reviewing anonymously.

Liked Allocated pitches for ehu. Bar and undercover seating area. Plenty of seating, could do with more shade by outside tables. didn't try the food ,good choice of menu. Toilets clean even after a busy Saturday night. Staff very friendly.

Disliked Toilets need/ shower and washing up areas need a revamp to keep up with the look

Unpowered grass site

Liked Friendly people, very laid back, clean facilities with hot showers. It was a busy weekend but didn't feel over crowded at all. Good play area for the kids and generous pitch sizes for us to set up camp.

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Unpowered grass site

Liked We could choose where we wanted to pitch. We chose to stay opposite the kids play area, which was brilliant. Kids loved the goats and birds. Showers, washing up area & toilets were clean. Great little shop where the kids could get ice creams, although an ice cream van did come round a few times too. There was a bar & lots of seating. Pizza was good too but sadly ran out when my brother arrived, which wasn’t a problem as there was a nearby Pizza Hut and I think they needed up getting more dough. Great walk along the canal from the campsite to a lovely pub. I would definitely stay here again.

Disliked We did notice the train going past a few times but we knew about it from reading the reviews, just remember your ear plugs.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Convenient location for us and various friends to reach after work on a Friday. Walking distance of a couple of pubs, but also a good outside area for the onsite bar & food.
There was a group of us which included motorhomes and tents but as we weren’t on hook up we could camp in the non electric fields where we wanted and all together which was ideal.
Campsite allows camp fires which is great.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
