  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

Great family spot with big sites, tidy facilities, and a chill vibe. Kids love the playground, bouncy castles, and goats. Shop, bar, and kitchen are a hit, plus nice walks nearby. Train noise mentioned, and some found facilities basic but fine for the cost. Good value, likely to return.

Liked Great value for money. Facilities are good. Park is great and a real beacon for kids to head to.

Reception area has improved since I’d last been with an amazing feature known as a bar! Pleasant surprise.

Love seeing the goats and birds. Even had the pleasure of watching some birds of prey over the fields. Not sure if they were the owners birds being let out to stretch their wings as there’s a few in the area anyway.

Tip if you’ve not been before the main toilet block has running hot water whilst the smaller toilet block in the field only has cold.

All the staff are helpful and friendly.

Even though I visited in school holidays and the site was full on the Saturday you wouldn’t know it when settling down for the night. Lovely and quiet.

Will definitely be returning and might even stop off for a coffee or a beer when next heading over that way.

Plenty of people had been there for 5+ nights which says a lot really.

Liked The site was busier than I expected but it was quiet and we loved every minute. We booked it as we camped with our granddaughter, and it was just perfect. Large playing area close to the toilets and we felt really safe letting her go explore. We walked to the local village and had coffee and cake in the cafe and went to the playground there before walking back down the canal.
Jamie behind the bar and in the shop was great.

Disliked Only 4 toilets and showers and although this wasn't an issue, a separate washing area to wash and brush teeth would have been great.

Liked This was a lovely campsite for location and the facilities. The staff were always friendly and welcoming, the bar, cafe and seating are not things you usually get on many campsites and we made use of them. The goats & aviary were an added extra. I would definitely recommend to everyone.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
