Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

喜欢 Great facility’s. So much more than we were expecting. The animals were lovely too. So glad we extended for a late departure

喜欢 Great for kids. The park and bouncy castles were tariffic. The staff were very helpful, the manager said we could leave when we liked as there was no one on the pitch after us. the animals on site well taken care of. We had a lovely time and absolutely would go back.

不喜欢 They were recovering from hosting a festival. Couple of the swings were damaged and the consumer unit on our electric hook up was missing cover. Raised these issues at the time of departure didn't affect our enjoyment of our holiday.

喜欢 Family friendly site that is reasonably priced to book and has reasonable prices on site. The main green area had loads of activities to keep children entertained. This was all stopped at 9pm and the camp was nice and quiet for the night.

不喜欢 The trains started going by again at 5.30am. This didn't bother us but may bother some visitors.

喜欢 Ample ground to pitch, friendly atmosphere, decent ameneties, good assortment of food and drink available on site, flexible with check in.

不喜欢 Showers could do with space to put clothes on, mens shower block could do with bigger sinks and a couple of mirrors, other than that highly rated and would stay again.

喜欢 Such a great campsite, I went with my 3 and 5 year old last minute, having never taken them camping and they loved it. The bouncy castles and the goats were loved and having food on site was great. Everything was really well priced and everyone was lovely.
My children wanted to come back again and I’d happily be back!

喜欢 Fab site, been a few times now with family and friends. Showers and toilets are fine. Could do with some lights that stay on longer in the bottom field toilets or make sure you take a torch in the night. Shop and bar are really good prices. Pizzas were lovely. Loads to do for kids, bouncy castles, playground, goats. Will deffo be back soon!

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
