Electric grass and hardstanding pitch

  • Small peaceful wildlife haven within easy reach of famed beaches
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Folly Farm
  • Clean showers and toilets; barbecues allowed
Hide away here for as long as you can manage. Covert Farm Camping is a family-run haven next to a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife living among reeds and trees… and it's only 10 minutes' drive from this splendid spot to the spectacular Pembrokeshire coast. The owners have set the site up to be a peaceful getaway for guests who want to unwind in a wildlife haven. The farm is surrounded by fields for leisurely walks away from roads, too, and a huge number of family days out are close by: Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches, Heatherton, Folly Farm and Manor Wildlife Park are all within 15 minutes' drive. Gratified former guests have approved most fervently of this lovely little site, hailing the friendly team, the spotless amenities and the setting among other aspects. Levelling blocks may be required for some pitches. The toilet and shower block has hot running water and washing-up facilities.

From the manager: Hi,

Thanks for your review. It is worth mentioning for other guests that may see this that we do not advertise wifi on site, but the mobile signal is very good with access to 4G/5G.

Unfortunately we do not allow dogs to be let off the leads and run through people's pitches as not everyone is comfortable with dogs. We do have a large dog area specifically for letting your dog off the lead.

With regards to the facilities, I am sorry you were unable to get a fully-serviced pitch.

Many thanks

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Really enjoyed our stay here, so much so we extended our stay by another night,
Really nice peaceful camp with plenty of open space to walk the doggies, Fran the owner was really nice, friendly
And helpful.
our gravel pitch was pretty level so didn’t need our levelling ramps, we placed our awning on the grass next to our van, electric supply worked well and the showers and toilets were kept very clean throughout the week, we had mobile internet here all ok with EE so hotspotted our TV from my phone for Netflix in the evenings

Disliked Only a real minor but some hand drying towels or hand dryers in the toilets
would of been good or just remember to take a towel with you when using the toilets 😉
I kept forgetting lol

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Location. Relatively quiet site.
Plenty of showers and toilets.

Disliked Slope of hard standing pitch.
Hose labelled up for drinking water was the only hose to put water into chemical toilets.

From the manager: Thank for the review Julie.

There is actually a separate hose labelled drinking water, sorry it wasn't clear for you - we have actually made this more clear now.

Thanks

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked -

Disliked We were very disappointed with this campsite. The welcome was unfriendly from the start, which set a negative tone for our visit.

The location is very remote; the nearest supermarket is at least an 18-minute drive away, so you need to plan ahead.

The £15 dog charge felt excessive, especially as we were immediately spoken to in a way about keeping our dog on a lead (which it always is), while other dogs ran freely, including one belonging to the owners.
Our dog was stressed, and loose dogs even knocked over our table.

There is no lighting anywhere on the site, making it pitch dark at night. Returning late with our 3-year-old, we were told off for driving back to our pitch instead of leaving the car at the entrance. This felt unreasonable and unwelcoming.

Overall, we felt unwelcome throughout our stay. We cannot recommend this campsite, especially for families or dog owners.

From the manager: Hi Alexandra, thanks for your feedback.

We do pride ourselves on welcoming well behaved dogs and dog owners so I can only apologise you felt you were not well-welcomed. We do have an enclosed dog run area where you can let your dog off the lead - we can't allow this onsite as not all guests are comfortable with dogs and it's unsafe for the dogs themselves with access to roads etc.

Your feedback is noted on site lighting and we will see where we can improve this - thank you. We only ask that you park in the main carpark when leaving or returning outside of quiet hours as to not upset other guests. On this occasion, when leaving and returning at midnight and 4am respectively we did have some guests that's were upset by the noises of idling cars and shining car headlights past tents etc. It is such a quiet site so we find that noise travels more than you would expect.

We also ask that any amendments to party size are communicated with us and extra guests are checked in and paid for. Happy to catch up on this via email.

As a note for next time you are in the area, there is a supermarket located in Kilgetty just a 5 minute drive away.

Thanks again,
Covert Farm

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Friendly owner, shower block, open space camping, relaxed atmosphere and dog walking field to let your dog off for a run too. Near a nice pub and commutable to Tenby too.

Disliked Errrrrrr, hard to think of as the campsite is what it says on the tin. It’s not a 5 star luxury site with all mod cons like a laundry room, but it is a good site!

Local attractions

No more than 15 minutes' drive (handy if you have less-than-patient kids) will take you to an excellent range of family and sandy days out near the farm: take your pick from beach and paddling days, boat trips, wildlife adventures, amusement parks, castles… and a dinosaur park. Saundersfoot (10 minutes' drive away) is, along with Tenby, one of the most visited holiday spots in Wales, home to an award-wining beach and the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. Another award-wining beach is at Tenby, along with the ruins of Tenby Castle, boat trips to Caldey Island and the Tenby Dinosaur Park. Also within 10 minutes is Heatherton World of Activities, home to lots of fun options for all the family (even four-legged ones, as it has a dog agility course). Most kids should also clamour for a day at Manor House Wildlife Park, the only walking safari in Wales and home to exotic and endangered animals from around the world. Then try and get your small sorts interested in a spot of history with ventures to Carew and Pembroke castles each within 10 minutes' drive: these are so splendid it might be easier than you think…
