Great - well located and quiet, relaxed campsite.
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked Good amenities and friendly arrival. We had read a slightly negative review before arriving and were apprehensive, but it couldn’t be further from the truth! There was lots of space and we felt like we had lots of privacy and quiet around us. Closest other pitch was quite a way away and we didn’t hear anyone at all. The toilets etc were clean and we were so happy with our stay. Have returned home very relaxed and loved it, thanks for having us!

I wouldn't recommend this campsite, not at such an unreasonable price.
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked The location is quite good, with easy access to nice places to visit and eat nearby. The scenery itself is pleasant, and the shower facilities were generally okay, although they are combined with the toilet and lack even a basic curtain, which makes them feel uncomfortable and impractical.
Disliked There were numerous issues that made our stay stressful rather than relaxing. First of all, the campsite is very small and overcrowded, with pitches placed extremely close together, offering little to no privacy. We were not allowed to choose our pitch and were simply assigned one. Our pitch itself was in a very poor condition — full of holes and uneven ground. It was genuinely unsafe - my mother tripped and nearly twisted her ankle, and the rest of us kept stumbling all the time as well. This is something that should be properly maintained, especially considering the high prices charged.
The pricing structure is also excessive. Not only do you pay per person, but there are additional charges for things that are usually included elsewhere — for example, £4 per night for an extra car, which is something I have never encountered in over 10 years of camping in Wales. Facilities were lacking basic essentials such as paper towels or hand dryers in the toilets. On top of that, there were numerous unnecessary and overly controlling signs everywhere, including instructions written directly on fixtures (such as “GENTLE” written in marker on the flush), which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
One of the biggest issues was the strict and inconsistent enforcement of rules. The website stated that barbecues were allowed, yet we were barely permitted to use one, even on a designated table, and only after insisting. Campfires and fire pits are not allowed on the campsite. This was extremely disappointing, as it takes away a big part of the camping experience. We were freezing in the evening, not allowed to burn a little firepit above the ground even if the grass was very moist that evening.
The behaviour of one of the staff members (a woman at reception) was particularly off-putting. She came across as overly controlling, inconsistent, and insincere. Rather than feeling welcomed, we felt constantly watched and judged, which made it impossible to relax.
The campsite is also surrounded by large numbers of pigeons, which were noisy throughout the day, and there were many wasps, adding to the discomfort. Two members of our family left after just one night because they did not enjoy the stay at all. We did not even attempt to request a refund, as it felt like it would not be handled fairly.
Another dislike is leaving at 10:30 when other campsites allow departure at 12 or 12:30. Arriving very late at 3 pm when other campsites allow it between 12-1 pm and departing at 10:30 sounds unreasonable.
Overall, despite the nice surroundings, the experience was dominated by poor maintenance, excessive charges, lack of privacy, and an uncomfortable, overly controlled atmosphere. This was by far one of the worst camping experiences we have had, especially considering the price.
I would not recommend this campsite, particularly not at such an unreasonably high cost.

From the manager: Dear Madam,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review. We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify some of the points raised, as several of the comments are matters of personal opinion or do not accurately reflect why certain rules and procedures are in place.
Our campsite is a small rural site, and the pitches were chosen by your other party members. Pitches can be allocated by us to make the best use of the site and to ensure that vehicles, tents and facilities are positioned appropriately. We appreciate that a small campsite will not provide the same amount of space or privacy as a much larger site.
Regarding the ground conditions, we are sorry to hear that your mother nearly twisted her ankle. We take the condition of our pitches seriously and will look at the area mentioned. However, this is a rural campsite and the ground can naturally become uneven, particularly during dry weather.
Regarding the additional charges, our prices and charges are provided before booking so that guests can make an informed decision. The additional vehicle charge is clearly stated and is necessary because of the limited space available on our small site.
We would also like to clarify the comments about barbecues and fires. Campfires and fire pits are not permitted on our site. We have specific requirements from Natural Resources Wales concerning fires and barbecues, and we have a responsibility to comply with these requirements for the safety of our guests, the surrounding land and the environment. Disposable barbecues are also not permitted. These restrictions are not imposed by individual members of staff and are not intended to spoil anyone’s camping experience.
We understand that some guests enjoy having a campfire, but unfortunately we cannot allow this. The fact that the grass appeared wet on the particular evening does not change the requirements we have to follow.
The signs around the facilities are intended to provide information and help guests use the facilities correctly. We appreciate that you found them excessive, but they are there to prevent damage, explain how facilities should be used and help us maintain them for everyone.
With regard to our reception staff, we are disappointed that you felt unwelcome. Our staff are expected to be friendly and helpful, while also making sure that the campsite rules are followed consistently. We do not accept that our staff intentionally watch or judge guests, and we would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you while you were staying with us.
Our check-in and departure times are also clearly stated when booking. These times allow us to prepare pitches and facilities properly between guests and are part of the terms of the stay.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the location, scenery and shower facilities to some extent. We are sorry that overall the site did not suit your expectations. We appreciate that different campers look for different things from a campsite, and we will nevertheless take the constructive points raised regarding the pitch condition and facilities on board.
We wish you and your family all the best for your future camping trips.

It’s more a £15 a night site rather than £30+

Liked Warm welcome. Flat pitch. We booked a grass electric but were given the option of any pitch as the place was very quiet so we picked one that offered at least some shade on one of the hottest weekends of the year.
Disliked It’s a basic site. Very rustic showers and toilets. Just love the smell of horse manure when I’m having a shower 🤢.
