Glamping At The Paddocks: Spacious porch

General

  • Dog-friendly rural retreat in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • A five-minute drive from several beaches and 10 minutes from Tenby
  • Fully-equipped cook shack, barbecue and firepit; dog exercise paddock

Families, couples, dogs, hikers, surfers and climbers assemble… based in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Glamping At The Paddocks is a rural retreat that’s just five minutes’ drive from a cluster of sandy south Pembrokeshire beaches. That’s not all, though, as the harbour town of Tenby is 10 minutes’ drive away too, with yet more sandy beaches, fish and chips and seal-spotting boat trips that visit Caldey Island.

A small, friendly place this certainly is… the luxury five-metre bell tents are set up on a working farm, each with their own allocated toilet, hot gas shower, fully-equipped cook shack, barbecue and firepit. That’s a lot for the humans to look forward to, but dogs also have a large, secure dog exercise paddock awaiting them.

There’s a welcome hamper with goodies from the local farm shop to get you started, but this area is also geared up for foodies, with plenty of family-friendly and dog-friendly eateries nearby. St Florence (25 minutes’ walk) and Manorbier (35 minutes) both have a pub and shop and there’s a garden centre (15 minutes’ walk) with a café that serves everything from coffee to Sunday dinners. Main supermarkets can be tracked down in Tenby and there's a petrol station five minutes’ drive away too.

Nicely fed and watered, you might want to head to one of a handful of beaches five minutes’ drive away - Skrinkle Haven Beach, Lydstep beach, Manorbier beach and Swanlake beach. Also handy are the activity centres, watersports and adventure zoo a short drive away.

Upon your return, pour a glass of wine and unwind on the table and chairs or handcrafted picnic bench outside your spacious bell. Furnishings inside include a double bed with an orthopaedic mattress, quality linen and duvet and deep flocked air beds for any extra guests or children.

Please note

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Bookings must not be for more than 7 consecutive nights.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

To be able to operate and run the glamping site, the site is certified by the Go Explore camping club, which has been granted special legislation from the Welsh assembly government. Without this legislation, small independently-run sites would be unable to open, so a £12 annual Go Explore membership fee is added to all bookings. This is a one-off fee per pitch.

Loved our stay. The site had all the extra finishing touches.. all cooking items, loved the cooking hut. We had loads of goodies for us on arrival and for the dogs too which was such a nice touch, all the little details had been thought of. I asked for a list of dog friendly places to visit and this was waiting at our pitch on a hand written sign which I thought was lovely. The campsite is in a great location and a really short drive to tenby which was really handy. Great little glamping site.

We had a wonderful stay blessed by good weather but the facilities and great welcome by Sarah and her team made it all the more so. Thanks for the extra marshmallows btw!
The cook shack was excellent and very well equipped (tea and coffee included) and the fire pit/barbecue stand was new to me and very cool. Shower was hot with good water pressure. Bed was really comfortable and plenty of space in the tent, which was carpeted as well, a nice touch, hope muddier conditions don't put a stop to it! The horses and farm dogs were a nice distraction for my teenage daughters but for the younger ones there is a selection of games on offer in the covered shared space. Village shops and a chippy are close by. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a great location with nice views of the countryside and home comforts then this is the perfect place.
