Spacious pitches

General

  • Spacious family-run park with sea views over St Brides Bay
  • A mile from Newgale beach for surfing and other watersports
  • Pub with food and craft beers 15 minutes' walk away

Surfing, hiking, horse riding, coasteering, wildlife spotting… if it’s fresh-air frolics you’re after, the Pembrokeshire coast is a pretty fab pick. And if sea-view sunsets would top that all off nicely, you’ll settle in well at Rainbolts Hill Farm.

From this family-run four-acre site there are stunning views out over St Brides Bay, best taken in at the end of the day as the sun dips below the horizon... Naturally, that’s a fab time to crack open a beer and sizzle a few sausages too; barbies are welcome here and decent-sized supermarkets are 10 minutes' drive away in Haverfordwest. Welsh weather not all that warm? Cosy up at the cracking country pub 15 minutes' stroll away.

Having seen the sea from the site, you’ll no doubt want to take a closer look, and this is a fine location to do so. A 20-minute ramble will take you to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and the beaches of Newgale, Nolton Haven and Broad Haven are all under 15 minutes away by car. Turn and face inland and you’ll be looking at the Preseli Hills, also a fine place for a scenic hike.

However you’ve spent your day, back at base you’ll be staying at a peaceful place (no parties, please) with heaps of space to chill out, as well as top-notch heated bathroom blocks (ladies' and gents, with toilets and showers) to keep everyone spruced up.

Please note

A charge of £0.20 applies for the use of the shower.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Staff member came out to greet us as soon as we arrived on site.

Very clean site and facilities, it is very obvious that a lot of time and money has been spent on creating a new modern site and the upkeep of high standards.

We liked that the shop was self serve especially in current climate

Close to beach, and short drive to local town.

Fields on site for long dog walks.

    Disliked:

Minimal toilet facilities only 2 toilets and 2 showers each for men and women. The site was quietish during our stay so wasn't a massive issue, but could see this being a problem in busier times.

Not many electrical hook up spots.

Not a dislike, but a suggestion to add more common every day use items to the shop such as bread and milk.

From the manager...

Many thanks for the great feedback - We will be installing more hookup points next year and hopefully expanding our facilities subject to planning approvals. Really glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Best regards, Nick

Great little camp site with hot showers (20p for 2 mins or £1 for 10mins), owners very friendly and helpful with knowledge of the area. The shop is an addition to our last visit with was great with ice creams and cold soft drinks which was handy with the hot weather. A new path way via the next field has also been added if you wanted to walk into the village.

Showers and toilet facilities cleaned many times throughout the day which was good to see with the current COVID guidelines.

We had a great view of Roch castle on this visit.

A great little campsite and looking forward to our next stay

Lovely spacious field and clean shower (payable) and toilet facilities. Location close to beaches. Friendly helpful owner and staff.

    Disliked:

Although we did not mind paying a small fee for showers we were unable to get change from the shop. May be useful for them to have change on site. They offer payable secure phone charging boxes but they did not seem to work very well and only charged very little or not at all in the hour we used them. Close to main road so not always quiet.

Lovely soft plush grass across the site. Facilties were spotless and well stocked. The view of St Brides Bay is wonderful and it is a great location to get easily to places such as Solva, St Davids, Fishguard within a short amount of time. There is a nice pub just up the road and a petrol station with everything you need. We would highly recommend for any family and can't wait to come back.

Local attractions

Watersports on your Welsh wishlist? Bring your surfboard to Newgale beach to join the regulars, or hire kit if you’re travelling light. Those who haven’t quite mastered the art yet can sign up for surf and kitesurfing lessons here, or join sea kayaking, paddleboarding or coasteering tours.

If you're after something a little more leisurely, the family-friendly sands of Broad Haven beach are about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could don your boots for a ramble along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Pony rides, lessons and beach or country canters are all on the menu at the local riding stables, 10 minutes away.

St Davids 20 minutes away is worth a jaunt too: the UK’s smallest city is famed for its cathedral and independent shops, and it’s also the meeting point for boat trips to spot wildlife around Skomer and Ramsey islands (bring the binoculars and keep the peepers peeled for puffins and dolphins).

Must see

  • St Davids Cathedral (8.1 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (11.6 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (13.4 miles)

National Trust

  • St David's Visitor Centre and Shop (8.2 miles)
