General

  • Well-maintained camping pods ten miles from the coast
  • Sleeping up to two adults and three children
  • Pods with hot tub, patio, heating and access to shared kitchen

Camping pods in Carmarthenshire – and how pretty (and well-priced) they are too.

West Wales Camping Pods is a small, friendly and most welcoming site on a working farm, with pods sleeping up to two adults and three children, on an area of roughly four by six metres for each pitch.

Each very well-kept and clean pod has its own adjacent car parking space, a patio with a barbecue chiminea, heating, and access to a shared kitchen with a gas oven, two-ring hob, fridge, toaster, kettle, basin, microwave and vegetable steamer. Pans, plates, cutlery and crockery are supplied.

Facilities are sorted in the shower pod which has a basin, shower and loo. And as it's a working farm, there are plenty of animals around for little podders to see.

Off site, West Wales Camping Pods is on the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire border and about ten miles from the coast at Amroth.

Please note

Coronavirus update: each pod will have its own dedicated toilet, shower and outdoor kitchen.

Lovely, friendly hosts who have put great effort into ensuring the site is Covid-safe. Dog friendly but be aware that it is a working farm with horses and chickens about so ensure that your dog is also stock-friendly! Even in the middle of winter this was a great place to go, and central for lots of walking. The kids loved the hot-tub.

The pod, the hot tub, the views were all great. There is a lovely big field that the kids enjoyed running around in. Separate toilet and cooking but we used the communal kitchen in a static caravan which had a full cooker. Clear views and the sky at night was full of stars.

    Disliked:

We were in Pod 2. On the first night the rain was torrential which resulted in a small leak from the window. Spoke to the owner the following day who couldn't apologise enough. Gave us some chocolates and we had no other issues.

What an amazing little break away. Peaceful, quiet and remote. The views are incredible from every direction. We stayed in Pod 3 which has recently been fitted with a bed - so comfortable and adds a touch of luxury. The private hot tub was amazing and we had private use of bathroom facilities and cooking facilities which eased our minds with Covid. The owner came and had a chat and explained about the recent upgrades they were doing. I have been here before and so much has changed for the better. Amazing place for views of the stars at night too. Will definitely be returning.

    Disliked:

It took a few turns for us to find the place despite coming before. A bigger sign showing the farm name would be more helpful.

We loved it despite the persistent rain. Pods so cosy. Hot tub a real treat. My boys spent most of the time in it. Loads of space to play in. Beautiful views. Kitchen a god send as we couldn't get the bbq to light. We will definitely return. oh yes, my husband received a birthday card and chocs from the owners, a lovely touch.

Local attractions

There's plenty to do in west Wales, particularly around its fine sandy beaches: too many to mention, but Wiseman's Bridge, Saundersfoot and Coppet are all popular stops. And the Carmarthenshire section of the Wales Coastal Path is very much worth a look, as is utterly beaut Carmarthen Bay.

A fair bit of family fun is around too, at Oakwood Theme Park, the Blue Lagoon Waterpark, Hetherton World of Adventures and Folly Farm, while all ages should like flowing along for a look at the cascades of Cenarth Falls.

See also the peaks and prehistoric trails of the nearby Preseli mountains just over the border in Pembrokeshire, and take a trip around the town of Narberth to have a poke around its shops, art galleries and the Narberth Museum.

Must see

  • National Wool Museum (15.1 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (17.2 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (17.6 miles)
