General

  • Within walking distance of Oakwood Theme Park
  • Five-minute drive from Bluestone Water Park
  • Pub with home-cooked food, real ale and a log fire

This is a pub site, but you might want to pitch up here if you have kids... Snooty Fox is within walking distance of Oakwood Theme Park, a five-minute drive from Bluestone Water Park and close to Folly Farm and Fair, Heatherton Activity Centre and Manor House Zoo – what a cunning location.

This is also good biking country and within walking distance of the rides and strides of Canaston Woods; Coedcanlas is three miles away for those who fancy a peaceful walk along the estuary.

The pub is family run and has a large function room, a stage area and a pool/games room. It serves home-cooked food and real ales – we think we'd settle down with both in front of the log fire.

Snooty Fox doesn't have showers on site, but the loos and washbasins in the pub are open all day for guests to use.

Please note

No shower facilities but there are toilets with washbasins in the pub that are open from 8am until 11pm daily and locked overnight.

nice clean campsite with 24hr toilets. nice little park for the children and the we didn't order meals but the food being served looked nice.

    Disliked:

Snooty Fox....more like drunken fox I would say!! May have been a bad choice of weekend staying on a bank holiday...but having called before hand to speak to the site twice before arrival, I do feel that as we were booked in as a couple with a 4 year old child, that it would have been polite of them to inform us that there were club of caravans on site, who's sole purpose was to drink as much alcohol as humanly possible, use the foulest language at the highest pitch their drunken voices could muster, then to follow by hitting the Snooty Fox bar to sing what seemed like every bad hit that has every crossed the radio waves until 1am! We were actually pitched at the opposite end of the site to the pub, however I felt the level of sound was so high It was as if I were at bar side!

If this wasn't enough torture, each caravan seemed to possess a different breed of huge dog, all of which were seemingly distressed to be chained up outside and left when they all decided to hit the pub. So mixed with awful drunken singing was the horrid sound of what sounded like a packed kennels! As one started yapping they all started! for hours... I'm only grateful that we only stayed the one night!

I had left our bank card behind the bar, and opened a tab in case we decided we wanted breakfast, and by morning we did not! when I went to tell them what an awful night it was, and pay for our two little orange juices and a child's ice cream, my complaint was met with a less than half hearted apology, and still they took the payment, not even a gesture of on the house for the inconvenience!

It's safe to say they are happy to take your money and care not a bit if you enjoy your stay, unless you are spending at the bar I imagine. We camp often through the summer, this was a bit of a last minute choice, and one not to be repeated. there a better places to stay.

also I forgot to mention is adjacent to a wood chipping factory which kicks off it's machinery at 7am!

From the manager...

We apologise that your stay was spoilt by music however you were a last minute booking and the caravan club had pre booked some time ago, campers having a nice evening with their family's is permitted.

We do allow dogs on site and ask all owners to be responsible and take care of their dogs and respect other campers , so we apologise if a dog barked.

As to regards of complimentary house reductions on purchased goods, it would have been nice to explain your situation in a polite manner , we are here to make your stay as pleasant as possible but it's difficult even though we did express our apologies to someone who is rude,

we also ask car owners to be responsible and not skid around the car park or drive recklessly across the grass where Children are playing maybe this is something you could consider while on any camp site and with a child in the car ?
Yes we are next to a timber yard but as you mentioned it was a bank holiday and the yard was closed ?

Nice quiet site, in terms of being not too busy. Great location. The bar seemed nice, although we didn't use it ourselves.

    Disliked:

Slightly noisy at night - some kind of generator (possibly from Oakwood Park, which is very close) was irritating. Although we knew there was no facilities, other than toilets, it is worth noting that it is a very basic campsite.

This is the second time we have camped at The Snooty Fox and we would definitely come back again. The facilities are clean and tidy; the field is well kept. The owners are really friendly and helpful. Both times we have stayed they have made a huge fuss of our daughter (6 years old). We've eaten in their pub on both occasions and the food is hot, arrives quickly and is delicious. We would definitely recommend this campsite.

Great site with loads of space very close to Oakwood theme park. (You can actually see the rides). Fantastic for the price which includes a local pub with friendly staff. Obviously be aware there are no showers but this didn't bother us as we only stayed a couple of nights and there was a toilet with sink included for stand up wash. Highly Recommended we will be returning soon as we've got free tickets for the theme park :-)

Local attractions

After you've whizzed the kids around Oakwood, Folly Farm et al, the Snooty Fox surrounds have quite a bit more to do for family and grownup days out – tis Pembrokeshire after all.

The market town of Narberth is within about 15 minutes' drive and is a popular place for Pembrokeshire visitors, who come for the independent shops including an award-winning butcher, the several art galleries and the plentiful antiques shops.

Drive eight miles or so to the seaside resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot for super sands, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, coasteering, climbing and fishing; Tenby's Llys-y-Fran Country Park and Reservoir has an adventure playground if the kids need to let off yet more steam.

Very locally, riding stables are within walking distance and Lawrenny Yacht club is three miles away.

Must see

  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (7.6 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (8.1 miles)
