General

  • Situated on the grounds an eighteenth-century listed building
  • Surfing, mountain walks, mountain biking and sea fishing
  • Near Dyfi Osprey Project, a wonderful little wildlife nature reserve

Hendre Hall Touring Caravan Site is situated in the grounds of Hendre Hall which dates back to the eighteenth century and sits between the Cardigan Bay coast and the beautiful countryside of the Cambrian mountains, Snowdonia. The rugged peaks and velvet slopes that adorn the central mid Wales uplands make the Cambrian mountains one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain.

Enjoy some of the most famous sunsets and don't forget to be camera ready so that you can flood your social networks with holidays pics that will leave your friends and followers green with envy.

You'll enjoy close access to the beach, only a 5-10 minute walk away and the convenience of a friendly local pub serving good food, 5-minutes from Hendre Hall. Facilities on site include toilets, a shower, a wash house and a recycling area. Do not hesitate to go on holidays with your dear four-legged friend as pets are very welcomed here. It would be a shame to have them miss on all this luxuriant nature.

There are great views of the Llŷn Peninsula, surfing, mountain walks, mountain biking and sea fishing nearby. Relaxing is also a pretty popular sport around here.

Caravan had serious issues! 10/09/2016

Having a shop nearby so that we could purchase antibacterial spray.

    Disliked:

I booked Carafan Hendre back in May, as a surprise birthday break. A final communication from the manager came just days before our much awaited holiday, informing me that there was no shower or toilet in the caravan. This information WAS NOT on their website at that time & has since been added! Had I known this earlier, I certainly would not have booked & paid a deposit. At no point were we made aware that despite there being TWO sinks in their 'family' caravan, managers had chosen to switch all the water OFF !! We arrived to find a filthy fridge & had to walk to the local shop to buy antibacterial spray to clean it. Later inspection also revealed mould around the windows, blinds that wouldn't close & had to be stuck down with tape. Needless to say, we left the following morning, and drove home deflated. Disgraceful.

The site was safe for children to play. We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach with the dog. Facilities were cleaned regularly during the day. Staff were very helpful and answered any queries we had. We enjoyed our stay.

    Disliked:

The tight entry to the site when approaching from Barmouth direction! Much easier access from Towyn direction.

Shower and toilet are kept clean.
    Friendly site.
    Nice location.

    Disliked:

No hot water taps in toilet or shower block.
Owners dog loose.not fair on other dogs when they have to be tied up. Making dogs bark As he approaches. He is a friendly dog but other dogs don't know that they go into attack mood because they tied up. I agree dogs have to be tied up while on site.but owner should respect this too.

From the manager...

Terribly sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. There is hot water in the wash house for all guests to use. We do not supply wifi at Hendre Hall.
Our terms and conditions which can be seen in the wash house, reception & website clearly state that dogs must be kept on a lead unless otherwise agreed. Well behaved and friendly dogs are welcome to be off a lead, aggressive or noisy dogs are not. Many thanks for your feedback.

Local attractions

Running from north to south, the Cambrian Mountains straddle the counties of Powys and Ceredigion and are often described as the backbone of Wales. A paradise for walkers and wildlife watchers alike they are remarkably free of human intervention and offer their visitor some of the most enchanting environments this country has to offer.

The Elan Valley in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains is home to the Elan Valley Reservoirs, examples of incredible engineering complimenting outstanding natural beauty. You should go explore this area and discover how they were built to provide water for the population of industrialised Birmingham. The workers' village, designed by Herbert Tudor Buckland is the only purpose-built arts and crafts model village in Wales. You can also go visit the nearest towns of Rhayader and Llanidloes.

The historic town of Machynlleth sits in the Dyfi Valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty and diversity. In order to celebrate and protect this unique environment, it is the only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site in Wales. The Dyfi Biosphere sits the edge of both southern Snowdonia and the Cambrian mountains - a perfect blend of slope and sand to enjoy contemplating and explore while in the region.

Your beloved and very demanding offspring will be quite entertained and grateful if you bring them to Cors Dyfi (Dyfi bog), a wonderful little nature reserve that is teaming with wildlife and home to the Dyfi Osprey Project. There is a healthy mixture of bog, swamp, wet woodland and scrub supporting a plethora of animals and plants, including the magnificent osprey.
