Hendre Hall Holiday Park

9.2

This park does not currently take bookings here on Pitchup.com.

General

  • Family holiday park in the grounds of an 18th-century listed building
  • Aberdyfi 20 minutes' drive; half an hour from Barmouth
  • Play area and laundry facilities; pub and station five minutes' walk

Hendre Hall Holiday Park is located in the grounds of Hendre Hall, an attractive listed building that dates back to the 18th century. Sitting between the Cardigan Bay coast and the gorgeous countryside of the Cambrian mountains in Snowdonia National Park, this spot is a great place to explore the rugged peaks and green hills that make this landscape one of the prettiest in Britain.

Have your camera at the ready to capture some of the sunsets that light up the sky in the west; you may also want to take photos of the food, the hills and the many miles of spectacular coastline, including views over to the Llŷn Peninsula, Snowdon, Barmouth and Bardsey Island. With a bit of luck, you may see the dolphins too.

The nearest beach is about a five-minute walk away along a footpath that is directly accessible from site. Llwyngwril's other amenities, like a friendly local pub, a railway station and a small shop, can all be strolled to in about five.

There are solid on-site facilities at Hendre Hall Holiday Park too, including toilets, showers, a wash house with laundry facilities and a recycling area. Kids are very welcome here and have a playground all to themselves; four-legged friends are allowed to come and explore the area by your side too. Hendre Hall Caravan Site is also home to pygmy goats and chickens which can be visited and fed.

Please note that this is a family site and that quiet hours are in force after 10.30pm.

Basic facilities, expected better for the pitch fees.09/21/2021

Location, the site is within the village and close to a train station.

    Disliked:

The facilities are very basic, there was no hand wash in the toilets throughout our stay and one morning there was no toilet paper. I went to use the dishwashing facility and was met with a sink full of scummy water. I put on my rubber gloves to pull the plug out but found the sink was blocked.

The fee is top whack for a site with no electric hook up for motorhomes and they charge extra to use the showers, at least the showers were clean. I guess I expected better. We left a day early as I just didn't want to stay another night.

Holiday makers should also be prepared that the train line runs feet away from the camping field and due to a pedestrian train crossing over the tracks, the train drivers sound their horn as they travel through the site. The trains start early in the morning so don't expect a lie in.

We had a great weekend at Hendre Hall, helped by warm sunny weather. It was great to be able to walk to the shop, pub and train station- we did not move the van all weekend. The village is really friendly, the pub does decent food and even had a band playing on the Sunday. The location has great mountain views and very easy access to the beach. We watched the sunset every night from the beach, sadly we did not sight any dolphins during our stay.
The facilities are kept clean and there was not too much queuing for a loo or shower.

    Disliked:

The showers could have done with something to sit on when getting your shoes on.

The view was stunning, lovely peaceful and friendly atmosphere. Close by to a number of other beaches. Even saw the dolphins in the bay from our pitch.
Owners were friendly and helpful even sorted an extra night for us to stay on, as we were enjoying it so much. Site was clean and spacious, couldn't have asked for more.
