  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views of Eryri (Snowdonia)
  • On the banks of the river Gwyrfai; a 10 minute-drive from Caernarfon
  • Walking routes directly from the site; playground and games room
Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site – good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Well maintained sight and looked after.
Great location with a bus route right outside the site.
Small shop selling essential items.
Fire pit hire.
Pop up food vans and drinks van open daily doing beer and cocktails.

Disliked On the outskirts of the site somewhere we could hear dogs barking a lot during the day and especially at night.
Although this has nothing to do with the site, it did become very annoying.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Internet was fairly quick. The showers were good and clean. There was a nice dog walking area. Handy to have a shop even though it said it was open at 8.30 every morning and we had to wait 25 mins for them to open it.

Disliked The lady at reception wasn’t particularly friendly, compared to many other sites. We were kept up all night with dogs barking at a nearby farm. The short walk to the local pub was 40 mins which isn’t a short walk. This is not a quiet campsite.

Gruffudd shepherd's hut

Liked Was a lovely area, and the staff were so welcoming. The place had lots to offer and do; unfortunately, we didn't have time to explore it all, as we only stayed one night. There was good service in most of the park, and we were able to watch the England game.

Disliked The Shepherd's hut had no bedding included; there was no AC or fan, which was needed. When you open the windows, all the bugs come inside, so it gets very hot sleeping with them shut.
