To some it’s famed for its historic steam trains and slate caverns; to others it’s a buzzing hive of outdoorsy activities. But whatever brings you to Blaenau Ffestiniog, it's a good bet to bag a berth at Quarry View Touring Park. This quiet touring park has been set up with life’s essentials in mind: a picnic area provides a place for open-air eats, and there’s a washing-up area, chemical disposal point and a waste area with recycling bins. Likewise, the shower blocks have been thoughtfully kitted out: benches and hooks save your clobber from damp patches and shaver points and a hairdryer will keep you looking dapper. And although there's no wifi on site, the presence of three mobile phone masts nearby means that most guests should be able to access 4G services. Any amenities that aren’t on site are most likely available nearby: it takes 10 minutes or so to walk into town for shops, a cinema, pubs and takeaways or to board a train from the station (regular services run from here to Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed as well as the heritage line to Porthmadog). Also within walking distance are the adrenaline activities at Zip World Llechwedd, including the Titan zipwire and Bounce Below, both set up in repurposed slate caverns. Looking to explore further afield? An excellent idea – this nifty location is under half an hour’s drive from Portmeirion, Harlech Castle and Snowdonia National Park.

Liked Absolutely spotless site. Pitches are Absolutely huge. The views are phenomenal. This was the last site of a week long north Wales tour and its one if not the best site we stayed at. Did 2 nights here.
Its located less than half a mile walk from the local shops take aways restaurants and pubs train station and activities etc. Which is great cos all the other sites we've stayed on have been a sponsored walk away from anywhere!!! 🤣

Disliked I cant think of a single way it could possibly be improved!

Liked Friendly Welcome and assistance. Our pitch was huge. Stunning atmospheric scenery. Site owner lent us an electric hook up when ours let us down. Janet is lovely and keeps a beautiful garden and facilities on site. The natural vegetation will lend itself to some fabulous Christmas trees, in season. Trish & Chips delivered to site and really tasty. Excellent easy grey waste access. Thank you Janet and John and not forgetting Mali xxx

Liked Site was spotlessly clean, very peaceful. Pitch was level and you had some privacy with little hedge either side.

Facilities were immaculate and hot water was great.

Liked This is a difficult review because we quickly decided not to stay because it didn't suit us at all so I can't really say anything I liked.

Disliked I feel it is important to highlight the issues that were missing from other reviews because if I'd known about them I certainly wouldn't have booked this site.
Many reviews describe it as having lovely views, but that couldn't be further from the truth from our pitch. It was small, very tight to get into and literally looked straight into a hedge on the driver's side. It not only felt very claustrophobic but the pitches were close together too, so you had no privacy to the other side or front either.
It should also be made very clear that the access is very steep with a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the hill so you have zero chance to gain momentum, especially in wet conditions.
Clearly the owner thought the weather was the problem rather than the site not meeting expectations so when we said we'd decided not to stay she advised that we would be better heading for Folkestone and going to Spain instead!

Liked Great little quiet site, water tap on every pitch and all pitches close to toilet block, all pitches hard standing gravel, the toilet facilities was immaculately clean and Janet the owner was very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay at the site and would definitely visit again in the near future.

Liked Lovely small site, good pitch size with established hedging around each pitch. Facilities are very clean and modern. All pitches very close to shower block . 16 amp electric, water on pitches . Good views. Owner very friendly and welcoming

Even if you’re not much of a train buff, it’s worth taking a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway – the steam-powered services take in some of Snowdonia’s most spectacular scenery as they wend their way down to the coast at Porthmadog. If you’ve got an appetite for more, connect here for the Welsh Highland Railway all the way up to Caernarfon. If you’d like to explore under your own steam, there are heaps of hikes in the surrounding Snowdonia National Park – Snowdon itself is just a few miles away, or you may prefer a quieter clamber up Crimpiau from Capel Curig or a circuit of Llyn Idwal from Ogwen Cottage for something a bit less leg-busting (both routes about half an hour's drive). The site is also a few minutes’ amble from the Antur Stiniog mountain bike trails, with an uplift service that’s been tipped as the country’s best. Not enough adrenaline yet? The site is also a 10-minute stroll from Titan ZipWorld (to fly along two kilometres of zipline) and the underground adventure park in an old slate cavern at Bounce Below. Calm that heart rate a little by heading coastwards for a trip to pretty Portmeirion or a wander around the castle and beach in Harlech – both are about half an hour away by car.
