Llandegla Trout and Coarse Fishery: Pitches

General

  • Dog-friendly fly and coarse fishing site with well-stocked lakes
  • A five-minute drive to Llandegla and a mile from the Offa’s Dyke Path
  • Tackle shop, tackle hire, café and family fishing pool

Avid angler? Or just want to have a first go at fishing? Either way, Llandegla Trout and Coarse Fishery in Denbighshire is home to well-stocked pools suitable for pretty much everyone.

And that’s really no exaggeration. This family-friendly site is dotted with lakes for all levels: opt for fly fishing in two trout pools stocked with rainbow, brown, tiger and gold trout, or give coarse fishing a go in a couple of bodies of water filled with mirror and common carp, barbel, tench, bream, roach, rudd and chub.

There’s also a worm fishing lake and a family fishing area for an informal intro to the sport, plus the on-site tackle shop – with kit to hire – is a handy addition for amateur anglers.

Fishing aside, the park’s location a mile from ambles along the Offa's Dyke Path makes it a brill base for mountain bikers and walkers. A bunch of other outdoor activities are also available in the area, including a shooting ground and a horse-riding centre within a five-minute drive.

As for sustenance (all that activity is hungry work after all), a café is on site dishing up free-range breakfasts and fresh coffee for the mornings, with other dishes available including fresh and smoked trout sourced from the park.

Prefer to rustle up your own grub? Barbecues are permitted on base.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Reception is closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

The whole experience was great for both my husband & myself & our two grandchildren aged 11 & 10. Thought we might have a problem with the children as nothing in the way of amusment available but this proved not to be the case. Stayed four nights & never left the site.Quite & beautiful place to stay.

    Disliked:

Facility's very basic, only two showers (not sign posted) & one female, one male & one family toilet for the whole site, new facility's in the procses of being built but at the time of our vist not yet in use.

Everything! Friendly, relaxed arrival. Lots of space, no silly rules. Clean toilets and facilities, everything worked as it should. Peace and quiet. We weren't there for the fishing, just a stop-over on a trip, but the place ticked every box.
    Cheers.

Fantastic place, one of the best campsite i've ever stayed. Stunning location ( Llangollen, aqueducts, castles, ruins of abbey), beautiful view. We were impressed with the cafe- delicious food, local products in very good prices. Staff extremely friendly and helpfull. Even coffee and snacks machine outside! Wifi in cafe area ( otherwise no signal). Very good price.

    Disliked:

Only one portable toilet in the tents area ( but i believe they are building new block). Otherwise have to walk to the cafe. But is not a big problem.
    Tents area is on slope.
