Llandegla Trout and Coarse Fishery: Pitches

General

  • Dog-friendly fly and coarse fishing site with well-stocked lakes
  • A five-minute drive to Llandegla and a mile from the Offa’s Dyke Path
  • Tackle shop, tackle hire, café and family fishing pool

Avid angler? Or just want to have a first go at fishing? Either way, Llandegla Trout and Coarse Fishery in Denbighshire is home to well-stocked pools suitable for pretty much everyone.

And that’s really no exaggeration. This family-friendly site is dotted with lakes for all levels: opt for fly fishing in two trout pools stocked with rainbow, brown, tiger and gold trout, or give coarse fishing a go in a couple of bodies of water filled with mirror and common carp, barbel, tench, bream, roach, rudd and chub.

There’s also a worm fishing lake and a family fishing area for an informal intro to the sport, plus the on-site tackle shop – with kit to hire – is a handy addition for amateur anglers.

Fishing aside, the park’s location a mile from ambles along the Offa's Dyke Path makes it a brill base for mountain bikers and walkers. A bunch of other outdoor activities are also available in the area, including a shooting ground and a horse-riding centre within a five-minute drive.

As for sustenance (all that activity is hungry work after all), a café is on site dishing up free-range breakfasts and fresh coffee for the mornings, with other dishes available including fresh and smoked trout sourced from the park.

Prefer to rustle up your own grub? Barbecues are permitted on base.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Reception is closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

beautiful spacious grounds with great spotless shower blocks and toilets.

lovely food and drink at the cafe during the day.

    helpful friendly staff.

    Disliked:

near to 2 roads with an unusual amount of traffic on the night we stayed,
air traffic which is something we did not factor in and cant be helped.
Unfortunately there was a large family with lots of children and dogs. Children happily playing but dogs off lead jumping into the pools and then going into other peoples tents.
Adults was very drunk and very loud until 2 am no one seemed available to tell so did not want to challenge them. Other places we have camped have come round and checked that people are observing the quite after a certain time.
Think it was quieter in the camper van areas

The only downside to this visit was the lack of a hot shower on one of the nights. This could be down to the timing of my visit to the shower block
