Cobleland Campsite: Aerial view of the site

General

  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome

If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Caravan and Camping Site as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests.

And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you.

The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

Loved this site. Warmly welcomed on arrival! Small shop for essentials on site, which was handy. Our pitch was tucked away, very quiet and level overlooking the river. Toilets and sink etc. were spotless! Easy to access chemical disposal point and grey water disposal.

Welcome from the guy was lovely and very accomodating.
Toilets were clean and dry and washing up facilities were appropriate.

Lovely dog walking path and poo bins sensibly placed.

Very pretty site for the 'front row' by the river.

    Disliked:

Showers were not overly pleasant, there was nice temp of water but the cubicles were very outdated and you just didn't feel overly clean when leaving.

The pitch sizes were not massive meaning people walked very close to the tent which our dog became quite vocal about.

Some clientele definitely let the site down, leaving washing up sinks dirty, teenagers sounding like howler monkeys and no consideration towards other users.

Also there were frequently wafts of the chemical disposal area smell.

Ended up leaving a day early.

Maybe sounds a bit petty to some but this looked like it would be a nice relaxing site for the end of a mini tour of Scotland but it was by far the least relaxing. Some of this was due to other visitors but the showers and waste smell could be worked on.

Location, campsite was very well maintained, variety of pitch options. Friendly people running it. Clean and tidy. Would go there again..

    Disliked:

Hard standing is an unforgiving gravel. We travelled with an awning, so we needed shoes to go from van to awning. Also something protect groundsheet. Lower grass area is mainly occupied by families so you need to decide pros and cons for each location.

Beautiful campsite, clean & tidy. Stunning walks and beautiful views. Grass with electric pitch over from the main reception. A little van arrived on Saturday afternoon making and selling fresh pizzas 7/10 so worth a wee try.

    Disliked:

Kids running between our car and tent knocking my tent on more than one occasion , kids out in the park screaming until 10pm with no adult supervision this is in no way the owner of the sites fault. Feel a sign could be up on the park making it clear adult supervision for the kids expected especially if they are young .Then to be woken by a young child screaming at the top of his lungs at 7:15am in the park was absolutely unacceptable. Again no parents in sight, Parents seem to just let their kids run a mock on this site , absolutely no care for other campers. First time I’ve ever experienced children running wild like this in a camp site. Down side is the children’s park is right next to all the electric pitches so expect to be disturbed until late!
