  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

What customers say

This is a charming, well-maintained campsite in a beautiful riverside and woodland setting. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff, the clean and warm facilities (including showers and toilets), and the convenient location with excellent walking and cycling routes on the doorstep. The on-site shop and food vans are popular additions. Pitches are generally well-spaced and level, offering privacy. While some minor issues like occasional noise or pitch conditions were noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Non-electric hardstanding pitch (woodland)

Liked Great shower and toilet facilities. Good flat tarmac cycle route nearby, 1.4 miles to local village and pub nearby with excellent food (half hour walk).

Disliked Woodland pitches to small and too close together and not level.
